Weir and Russell on TV, and my unanswered questions

KGET-TV had Ken Weir and Russell Johnson on TV this morning.

Weir says there's a "new philosophy" on the council. He doesn't articulate what it is or how Johnson doesn't fit it. He says it's not about the Canyons, but hasn't said what it's about.

Here's the dialogue between me and Weir over the last week, conducted by e-mail:

Thursday:

Q: Are you planning to ask the council to remove Russell Johnson so that you can make an appointment of your own to the Planning Commission?

A: During my campaign for city council, voters expressed their concerns for responsible property development that is fair and equitable to all with good long-term planning and respect for property rights.  The successful implementation of the voters’ wishes will require a planning commissioner that shares the community’s vision and understands the value of a long-term plan.

Friday:

Q: Can you name some votes Mr. Johnson made that you would disagree with?

A: (no response)

Q: If the council agrees to remove Mr. Johnson, who will you nominate to fill the seat?

A: (no response; he said on KGET that he doesn't know yet)

Monday:

Q; Who do you have in mind to replace Mr. Johnson if the council agrees to remove him? Either of the applicants for Mr. Tkac's spot?

A: (no response)

Today:

Q: What principles of planning do you hold to that Mr. Johnson does not?

A: (no response so far)

How do you misquote silence?

BTW

The voters in Weir's district do NOT speak for everyone in Kern County.   I don't care why they voted him in office; they should not have the only voice in Kern county on the fate of the bluffs.  The fact is, any natural resource which is a thing of beauty should and usually does belong to everyone.   The California coastline,  forested areas and wetlands were pillaged by a wealthy few until a moratorium was placed on private ownership of natural wonders.

It's unfortunate, but some businessmen and their elected mouthpieces will always push legal and ethical boundaries unless they are kept in check by average people.

And the question is...who will start the recall effort?
