Recaller shoots back at Weir
As you regular blog readers already knew, the deadline for the Ken Weir recall to make it onto the November ballot has come and gone, leaving the recallers to work toward a March 3 election. “Mr. Winn and others have not been honest or forthright throughout this entire process so it is no surprise that they would not honor their own June 30th deadline,” Weir said. Will Winn did not explicitly use the words "pot" or "kettle" in his response today, but he came close: We never set a deadline of June 30th for the recall as Weir incorrectly (disinformationally) states. We merely understood that if we were to make the fall election we would need to submit the required number of signatures to Pam McCarthy by the end of June. That was what we hoped to do. But as for any deadline, we have, by law, 120 days from the approval of the petition to collect signatures, or until about the end of September (I think it's actually October 1). That's the deadline. 3 comments from 2 users

I’m all for Weir’s basic conservative values of pro-family, pro private property rights (assuming whose your speaking of) and fiscally conservative. However, the man’s character is speaking for itself in that his primary interest is focused inward…himself.
Living in Pgh, PA, we are choked with horrific liberal AND INCREDIBLY ARROGANT agendas filled with erratic financial behavior like sinking exorbitant amounts of “public funds” (my money) into an ever degrading downtown city, public funds (again, my money) into the public financing of 3 professional sports team facilities (PNC park, Heinz Field and a new (yet unnamed) arena) AND a “state” funded (hmmm, still my money?) over $500 million dollar transit project to build a tunnel under the Allegheny River for access to the Pittsburgh North Shore (about a 1/4 mile tunnel) from downtown Pittsburgh. It doesn’t matter what the will of the people is, the liberal Democrats force feed the people…and they are killing this place. This is irresponsible.
Ken Weir doesn’t appear to be really be for the people…he’s dead set on his own agenda. Does that sound truly conservative? By the people, FOR THE PEOPLE? It almost appears that he is a stubborn liberal that doesn’t listen to anyone…only if it’s for his benefit. This is irresponsible.
I know that individuals have met with Mr. Weir personally, and from what I’ve seen, none have come away with any satisfaction. NONE. Is this the role of a true public official? Getting a potholed filled is one thing…the Hillside Ordinance is completely different.
Whether or not the recall happens, I’m in full agreement with Mr. Winn and “holding these politicians feet to the fire.” If we, (the PEOPLE), don’t, then who will? We can’t forget, that these city officials have to be reminded that they are supposed to working for the people in their ward. If their job is indeed unsatisfactory, then the people of the ward are responsible for taking action…and if it means recall, then let some of these local politicians start shaking in their boots and KNOW they are being monitored.
Lest ye forget, Mr. Weir is still just one man (“representing” the entire ward), equal to you and I. His title of “City Councilman” is only that…a title.

I can't believe that anyone even listens to Will Winn. The man is ridiculous and doesn't even know what he is talking about half the time. Maybe he should worry about fixing his own past before he continues to be condescending towards others. By the way, Willie, you did in fact say you wouldn't proceed with the recall on the Inga Barks Show. Hello...it aired on the radio. I have tried writing to the paper about your lies, Winn, but they wouldn't print it because it "contradicted their reporting" (according to the editor). posted by

Dear iTsMyTuRn,
Did you listen to Mr. Winn’s interview on the Inga Bark show? If I remember correctly, Mr. Winn was not interested in pursuing a special election (costing the tax payers additional money) if the signatures needed for the recall were not gathered in time of the cutoff. There was no mention to stop the recall unless they did not get the signatures needed. It’s pretty cut and dry. I believe your information is incorrect.
What do you know about Mr. Winn’s past? Do you know him? Sounds like you have some personal issues against him from the language you’re using in your post. That’s unfortunate because you appear to be the condescending one with calling him names like “Willie” or “Winn”.
Will you please post Mr. Winn’s lies here? Explain how he is ridiculous and/or condescending?
My question to you iTsMyTuRn is how is it wrong to keep elected officials accountable to the people that have elected them? It is the responsibility of the people to make themselves aware of issues that appear to be “underhanded” or “corrupt” and from what numerous people have seen (not just Mr. Winn), Mr. Weir has had questionable issues (General Holdings, Russell Johnson, illegal use of a city seal…) arise from the moment he was elected into office. This isn’t opinion, it’s fact.
From what I’ve seen, Mr. Winn isn’t standing alone…
