We have a candidate!
City Councilwoman Sue Benham has filed to run for a third term. Benham represents Ward 2 of the city, which includes downtown, Westchester, and the California Avenue/Truxtun Avenue area. Benham is the first person to file to run for city council. Also on the ballot this fall are wards 5 and 6. Incumbents Harold Hanson and Jacquie Sullivan have said they plan to file to run, and Sullivan has a declared opponent, Mark McCallum, who has not yet filed.

Here in the Holtby Estates area ( sounds better than a few blocks shy of the Oleander area), I am glad to hear the news. posted by

Good - she's my councilmember and she's darn good at what she does. And she helps to keep some of the others in check. posted by

BS Don't worry. Jacquie will be filing her papers as soon as someone gives her directions to the city clerks office. posted by

Hanson and Sullivan said Wednesday they would be filing, one of them Friday and the other on Monday. I can't remember who said which day, though. Sullivan and Hanson also both said that when they went to collect signatures, it was a harsh reminder of how well-known they're not. Even in their own neighborhoods, people didn't know them. posted by

The wier thing pan out???? lol it didnt pan out cause it was garbage to start with and they couldnt get the support, just because the Californian agreew with a group doesn t mean thats what Kern Wants. There was never big support just big coverage.
City beat point well taken, for you it just comes down to money and whos paying you. I knew it.
