Exceptional youtube video, featuring California Youths explaining why it's OK to support Prop 8.

Then, it's really a matter of, either you get it, or you don't.

Here's another explaination.

The gist of the first video:  My religious values are more important than your civil rights.

The gist of the second (very well done) video:  Be scared, if Prop 8 loses, all sorts of bad things will happen.

I don't think a majority of Californians scare any more, and I think they realize that separate is never equal.

But we will know for sure Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, take a look at this one:  http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Good stuff, thanks for posting this;)  Is that the best you can do gopher?

I can't believe that most Christians are so self-oriented that they cannot recognize that their beliefs are not the only beliefs worthy of opinion. All the first video showed was people with Christian beliefs allowing those beliefs to influence their political decision making. Generally, this would be fine to use that lens from which to view the world. But, when you blind yourself by looking through that lens and allowing yourself to behave in a manner that hurts others, it is not appropriate.

Gopher's video was excellent - it analogized an integration of church beliefs into state politics. This is what will happen if 8 passes. Loving couples with or without children will have their relationship stripped from them and they will be reduced to partners. All those people who think a domestic partnership is the same thing as marriage ask yourself two things: would I be willing to give up my right to marry to be a domestic partner? and how would I feel if someone took the right to marry away from me? If you would not want to be a domestic partner, then you believe that they are two different things and are condoning segregation. If you would have no problem with being a domestic partner, then you should not vote for the ammendment 8 is making and instead call for an ammendment to change marriage into something that truly reflects its civil definition, one that all US citizens can enjoy. If you would be hurt if someone would take your right to marry away, then you should feel empathy for the homosexuals and not vote on 8. If you would not be hurt if someone takes your rights, then you probably voted for Bush in 2004.

Jared you almost got me convinced.  Maybe another couple of long, paragraphs of irrational, emotional appeals will do the trick and sufficiently dumb me down enough to vote against what is right and sane;P

Nice of you to give him a headstart, Buffoo...

.

Bigots never like it when they're called out on their bigotry.  Ever has it been.  The same arguments came out against interracial marriage, too.

Nothing in the present law says religions can't have a definition of marriage within their church dogma.  But that's not good enough for those of little faith--they think they have to write it into law.

What, they need official government permission to hate others?

Rf you are going about all wrong.  You have to write really long comments like Ray and Jared so people will stop reading them and correcting you with reason.

Buffoo, I hate to make you use reason...you have so little to spare.  You should save it for the inevitable day when your religious doubts bubble to the surface.

If Ray and Jared like to write long comments (I do too, occasionally) perhaps you should just try skipping over the big words.

Positive proof that "separate is not equal".

No one with a "marriage" would ever trade it in for a "domestic partnership".

End of argument.
