Rosie's leaving The View!
So, Rosie O'Donnell has been making waves on "The View" since the moment she got on it. She has her never-ending fued with Donald Trump, who by the way, says he is the reason. She has made comments about tons of other people. Personally, for my taste, she is over the top and jumps the gun alot on little things but that is just me.

Rosie says the reason is because she wants to leave to pursue other things. Do you think that is the reason or was Barbara Walters and ABC the reason?

Rosie will be on the show as a special correspondent..so she isn't leaving..just not appearing daily. Also, their viewership went up after Rosie started appearing. Since I don't watch the show..it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

I did see that they said she may join occasionally, I must have missed the correspondent part. She will no longer be the moderator though.

The noon news showed her with Barbara saying she would do reports on specific topics, like children, alzheimers, and some other issues I don't remember. I think her little f-bomb tirade recently at a conference might of had something to do with this move..but I really don't know.

Donald may be arrogant and narcissistic, but he's pretty smart.  He knew that Barbara hated her and he predicted that Barbara would have her fired.  Basically, that's what happened.  Barbara had a pretty good reputation before Rosie came on the scene as far as at least attempting to be civil, objective and professional.  Rosie severely tarnished her image.  This is a classic case of damage control, but I'm afraid Barbara's image may not recover from overindulging O'Donnell.

Rosie wanted a year-by-year contract, reportedly, and ABC wanted to lock her in for three years.  She's good for ratings, obviously.

.

I don't watch *ANYTHING* on the Mickey Mouse Network.

They should have Trump come on the show and say,,,,,YOUR FIRED!!!!

That's hilarious, Mountainman : )

So Random..she wasn't fired as that yahoo Tucker Carlson is saying at this moment?
posted by ghostriter on Apr 25, 2007 at 04:04 PM

She is obnoxious and offensive. I never watched the View specifically because she is on it. I personally hope she disappears from TV altogether, but I doubt that will happen. If I never see her nasty face again, it will be too soon.

random...why no Mickey?

Good one Mountainman!  And good riddance!  Now, if anybody should be referred to as a 'ho, it's her!
posted by randomfactor on Apr 25, 2007 at 04:36 PM

No Mickey Mouse Network because of the hatchet job "The Road to 9/11."

.

Reports I saw were that ABC wanted her for THREE YEARS.  Doesn't sound like a firing to me...but I can't find the reference at the moment.  Rosie's got lots of offers for her own show...

If I followed your line of thinking..I would have to abandon ESPN random..I would be majorly depressed without some sports in my life.
posted by randomfactor on Apr 25, 2007 at 04:41 PM

Nah, I just don't watch the local ABC affiliate.  Had some exchanges with them over R2-9/11.

.

But I boycott ESPN too because pro sports bore me. :)

lol..well, thats ok I guess. But I can not live without my sports fix..its a serious addiction for me.

I can't stand her, so I'm thrilled she's leaving.  Her pugilistic style is more appropriate for a night time show ala Bill O'Reilly.  In fact she reminds me of a liberal Bill O'Reilly A  mean, loud mouth,  know it all.

I guess this means Elizabeth will be staying, I hope.

Good one Audrey..she is a female Bill-O!

Dusty

If you'll notice, they both have a mean, sour look on their faces.  I think they need a long vacation from television.

posted by dusty1215 on Apr 25, 2007 at 05:10 PM
But Ro had a long vacation from TV..I can't stand her shrill voice and she is always yelling it seems to me, which is why I loved the Bill-O reference.

She's mad at the democratic party now and is threatening to vote independent.  Good riddance.
posted by randomfactor on Apr 25, 2007 at 05:13 PM

But *WHAT* is Rosie yelling?  If it's not "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP" it's not an authentic Falafel Boy impression.

.

Since when does the spam filter comment on my comments?  "BTBPP" sounds like a bi-labial fricative.

Well hell, I am a tad pissed at the Dem's too, but I ain't voting for Ralph Nader again! Although last Presidential election one of my cats got my vote :P Kerry didn't impress me one iota.

I agree, she would be a great fit in Bakersfield where all the dim lights abide.

Audrey, the only difference between Rosie and O'Reilly is Bill O has facts to back up what he is saying,,, Rosie is flat out lying,,,,,,,big difference,,,,
posted by NancyII on Apr 26, 2007 at 07:27 AM

I heard (one of the dreaded liberal talk show hosts say) that he feels Rosie has a lot more serious issues and must be a terribly unhappy person.  He said happy people don't spill such venom and hatred the way she does.  I agreed with him.  The only time I heard her say anything remotely kind was when she talked about sex with her partner..on the View.  It wasn't graphic but I thought a little out of place.   Other than that, you guys are right..just shouting, spite, and bitterness.

The talk show guy also said he remembered when she was first on the scene and made those few movies.  What a pleasant person she was then.  I wonder what happened to make her so rabid?

posted by randomfactor on Apr 26, 2007 at 07:40 AM

Gee, she's reviled by a significant fraction of the population simply because of her choice of wife.  Nah, that wouldn't cause any "serious issues."

.

I personally think she's rather clueless for having fallen for the "9/11 an inside job" crap.  Just as I think Bush is rather clueless for having fallen for the "Iraq will be a piece of cake" crap.

.

Falafel Boy with the facts behind him?  An interesting delusion, Mountainman.  What do you think of UFO's?

"Falafel Boy with the facts behind him?  An interesting delusion, Mountainman.  What do you think of UFO's?"

Heh, yeah, I caught that comment, too.  Surely he can't be serious.  ("And stop calling me Shirley.")

Facts to back him up?

Like, um, "secular war on Christmas?"

Anyone who knows me personally knows just how newsworthy my love for Christmas is.

For the record, I have never seen The View.  But I'd imagine that a lot of Rosie's bitterness is the result of 15+ years of pundits and taking heads saying vicious, hateful, and slanerous things about "her kind of people."

Constant irritation leads to sore spots, ya know.

Wait a minute, H4F.  I think we *BOTH* missed something.

Nancy wrote:  "I heard (one of the dreaded liberal talk show hosts say) "

So, Nancy, just when *DID* Keith Olbermann say that?  Might be interesting to see the context...

posted by NancyII on Apr 26, 2007 at 08:22 AM

RF..what are you talking about?  First off, It wasn't Oberman..I don't think I've ever heard him talk.  Second, the talk show host didn't say a word about "her kind of people", all he said was that he thought she had some serious issues that made her so unhappy.  He was actually DEFENDING her.  I simply agreed with that thought.   I put "dreaded talk show" in as a sort of joke since I know how you folks talk about them and how if one of them is mentioned you immediate go off on a tangent..

I was the one who commented on her talking about her sex life and I don't care if she's heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, unsexual, or non sexual.  I don't think national TV is the appropriate place to discuss your bedroom activity.  Call me a prude (which I'm not), but a little privacy isn't a bad thing.  If you've paid ANY attention to anything I've written in the past about "her kind of people" (H4F's words, not mine) you'd know that I have NEVER bashed anyone for their sexual preference.

I'm not sure why you chose me to criticize but maybe you'd better look at the other posts and spread that around a little.

Nancy wrote, "you'd know that I have NEVER bashed anyone for their sexual preference."

That's why I just can't place you in the same camp as what is called "conservative" today.  You're what conservative used to be.

(With the very prominent exception of a few issues, much the same applies to me.)

Ah but H4F..in the beginning I told folks here that I am ME.  No one could accept that..one MUST be placed in a box and labled.  I'm not Liberal so I can't be placed in that box.  You say I don't fit the current conservative criteria so I can't be placed in THAT box either.    I am far more conservative than anything else but, oddly enough, I have the ability to think for myself and make my own decisions.  I know what I believe in and if that doesn't fit a mold..well, I don't know what to tell anyone.

We all place too much emphasis on a label and forget there's a real live breathing person inside that label who just might agree with you on some things while totally disagreeing on others.   Imagine that.  :-)

RF....A thought occured to me. (I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes.)    Since this is your opinion,  (and I quote)

"Gee, she's reviled by a significant fraction of the population simply because of her choice of wife.  Nah, that wouldn't cause any "serious issues."

How do you explain Ellen Degeneres popularity, great personality, and sense of humor?

posted by Hardliner4freedom on Apr 28, 2007 at 08:16 AM

Ellen DeGeneres took more than her share of hating, too.  I guess I'd attribute her better temperament to a personality difference.  (But that was part of your point, I guess...)

If I could spend 15+ years in the entertainment industry making the kind of money she makes with her lack of talent, rather than being bitter, I'd just "cry all the way to the bank".

posted by randomfactor on Apr 28, 2007 at 05:01 PM
I believe she's doing just that, driln.  And given the yahoo reaction to her performances it's the best sort of revenge, the kind she can enjoy all over and over again privately, sitting with her wife and kids in a large home that her detractors helped pay for.
