That is a bad thing about that feature... I agree that sometimes someone might write something offensive down and their comment should be stricken.... but to do it as *kind of a habit.*... just because it is something you might not agree with is not correct behavior... especially when there is a good string going... you delete a few comments and nothing seems to make sense anymore. posted by

liberal way of thinking? is the conservative way of thinking making those kinds of generalizations? dmbasss. yeah if he cant handle your posts screw him lol. deleting someones posts on your blog in a normal venue might not be a big deal, but this place seems to be a forum for debate over forums (i couldnt resist the odd wording sry), and with that in mind, him deleting your posts is lame. just my 2c posted by

Please do not blog on ACEYOU's blog. He will just erase anything that you write that opposes what he thinks. After posting on his blog, copy your comments. If he erases them, start a new thread with your comments and explain why. Random Factor does it to Buffoo/Wayfarer/Whoozis on a regular basis. posted by

When I read ACEYOUs blog last night, I chuckled. He gives fair warning that he will delete comments. Here's what he wrote in his blog: All u republican morons that think he's telling the truth can try to rip me apart now - i don't care - i'll just delete your comments. At least he was upfront about it. posted by

The blog is not intended for your comments. A blog is intended for the Blogger/bloggette. He/she may allow you to express your personal thoughts. I will agree that an option that allows the upfront blocking of comments would be appropriate.

getalife, Thanks for the heads up.What purpose does it serve if we can't share our thoughts. I'm new to this, but I thought that is what we we're all on here for. To hopefully learn, get new perspective possibly. I generally think I'm right, but I know I have been proven wrong at times. We all have! These are just opinions on here. We all have one, as the saying goes. Don't want to bother taking time to type my thoughts if the blogger just deletes it. posted by

Just like a half-dozen *OTHER* bloggers here do. The blog is not intended for your comments. I disagree, tkozy. A diary is intended for your comments. A blog, like this one, is intended to stimulate back-and-forth debate. posted by

That option is used by several posters here: in general I do not hold with it. Ace is hardly the first to decide to do so. posted by

I only delete comments that are innapropriate or personal attacksand have only had to do that twice. I will never delete an opposing viewpoint on my blog. I sometimes want to throw a brick at my monitor when reading comments, but I contain myself and throw words instead. I agree with RF here, this is an open, public forum for discussion on all topics. If you have an opinion, be prepared to defend it or die trying! If you are thin skinned, I suggest you take up needlepoint and sit alone in a darkened room rather than toss your hat in this arena. posted by

I agree with you guys. Also, I think the best way to treat unruly bloggers is to let their awful comments stand as testament to their own stupidity. posted by

Random, The original purpose for blogs was indeed as a diary. Saving your thoughts for the universe to read for perpetuity. It was only as an after thought that blogging became more popular as a two way sport. The application of advertising dollars to the Internet provoked much of what has resulted in the blog wars of today. As a result, there can be a tendency to police the blog through ad dollars. Present company excluded. :>) posted by

I have been blogging for over 10 years. And did my first block today. Only a very few deletions. I gave fair warning that I was not going to accept personal attacks. But was ignored. Hopefully the message has now been received loud and clear. Deleting posts is such a waste of time. Both for me and the offender.
