Sheriff Arpaio is a National Hero
Sheriff Arpaio for President of the United States. MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Dozens of Maricopa County sheriff's deputies and posse members descended on the small town of Guadalupe in an effort to curb what the sheriff said are street crimes involving illegal immigrants. Within the first three hours of the 2-day operation in Guadalupe, deputies arrested 15 people, 4 of whom are illegal immigrants. The sheriff's office says deputies were ordered to stop drivers for minor traffic violations and ask for identification. In some cases, people were stopped for littering. The heavy sheriff's office presence in the largely Hispanic town of about 5,500 people included roughly 30 patrol cars, 60 civilian volunteers known as posse members and a helicopter. Throughout the town, a number of handwritten signs had been posted along main roads asking the sheriff's office to leave. One read, "This is our home. Leave us alone."

Sounds like criminal profiling to me. High crime....law enforcement presence. They go together. The sign cracks me up. "Leave us alone to commit crime" posted by

catpaw, the Supreme Court has ruled that the police can stop ANYONE who commits a violation of the law, no matter how minor. And if a town or area is made up largely of one ethnic group or type of people, who do suggest they stop if the person commits a crime. The KCSO did this last week in the area around the fairgrounds. posted by

Point well taken ~OldBlue~.....it's not Law Enforcement fault that certain communities are made up primarily of whites-blacks-mexicans-hindus-martians-etc....the y are out there to enforce the law......I don't see any profiling...just a job being done....

This sounds like racial profiling.........but.............I love his Deadbeat Parent Hall of Shame. He also makes inmates wear stripped clothing and pink underwear. If you don't like it don't break the law.

Nancy it's not profiling but even if it was so what............As far as stopping people for minor violations and asking for ID isn't that what the cops are supposed to do? When I used to drink and drive I always made sure that all my lights worked especially my rear license plate light because that's how they get you.........Most people that I know that got busted because of a minor infraction. Hell I still say the real reason for seat belt laws and soon to hands free phones is it gives the cops another excuse to pull you over. posted by

RF we will never agree on this issue because I think illegal immigrants should have no rights what so ever because they are here illegally and until they get to the end of the line and legally go through the process they don't belong here. They are criminals and should be treated as such. Thank you God that there are people like sheriff Arpaio that's See's the illegals for what they are....criminals posted by

Is your ethnicity a reason to stop you? No. DWB is not against the law but people are pulled over daily because of it. It is not right. Cops should not make up reasons to stop you. Hello Mam , your license plate light is out. Oh well since I have you stopped ....have you been drinking? Oh and you appear to be Mexican are you legal? That is BS! posted by

timec, you just cannot accept the fact that as long as the police work within the confines of the law, they are not doing anything wrong. I have stopped/detained thousands of people, and never once was it because of their color. I always had a legal reason to do so. So quit your nagging. posted by

Police State? Jesus, I thought Bakersfield was bad. 5500 people and between 90-200 tax collectors. Even if what he did were noble, then he failed miserably. 15 arrests specifically looking for illegals, and only 4 hits. The link didn't work, but I imagine as time went on the arrests went up even higher in proportion to illegals, which is only around 26% already. But think of all the $50-$200 fines collected. Guppies, and somewhere all that time and energy could have been spent actually serving the public. No no, this was a training exercise just like here in town, on Eye st every weekend, get used to the black uniforms. There are supposed to be 15 cops on every corner! posted by

"Illegal" *DOES* mean something to me. I'd like to keep it that way, and not apply it to situations--like "Illegal immigration"--where it doesn't apply. . Sorry, Ron, but you're wrong. People in the US--not just citizens--have rights. That's what the Constitution says. Beyond that, citizens have certain privileges, such as voting, which depend on certain other factors as well (like not being in jail.) . There aren't 100 million illegals, Ron, unless you're saying that every third person in the US is illegal. Which may be right, if you include such dastardly crimes as jaywalking, lapsed vehicle registrations, etc. posted by

Ron, if there were 100 million "illegals" there would be more of them than Republicans. (Which sounds like a good idea, come to think of it.) . Why doesn't illegal immigration apply to me? Because I was born here, I guess. But you'll have to put me down as every bit as guilty as those "illegal immigrants"--I have a pickup that I failed to register on time. posted by

timec, you know my opinions well enough that I have issues with ANYONE who kills, steals, sells drugs, ect, regardless of their race, social status, age, ect. I will admit it, I HATE criminals. But I also hate crooked cops, crooked lawyers, incompetent newspaper/media reporters, and people who play the race card to try and win an argument. Do you fall into one of these categories? posted by

I am not trying to use the race card to try and win anything. I don't fall into any of those categories. I am not a criminal or a loser. I am a person that cares about people. I care about people of all color. I am not by any means a person that hates anyone because of the color of their skin or what they believe in. I just think that we as God's children deserve the right to be treated equally. You know and I know racial profiling exists. You know and I know that Kern County is full of crooked LE. No, not all are bad but some. All I want you to do is admit that people are targeted because of race. You know OB I feel that you are a good person. I do feel as a cop you have twisted views. You have a certain dislike for a whole class of people because of your experiences. You hate all gang members. Some people just need help. You may be that one that could change a life. posted by

U.S.-Mexico Pact Revealed: Billions to Non-citizens WASHINGTON -- As a result of lawsuits, the U.S. government released this week the actual U.S.-Mexico Social Security Totalization Agreement, an understanding signed between the Bush administration and the Mexican government in 2004 that would funnel billions of U.S. Social Security funds to Mexican citizens.
TREA Senior Citizens League, a Washington-based nonpartisan seniors group, announced this week that after Freedom of Information Act lawsuits it filed against the government, it had received the secret agreement document.
Brad Phillips, a spokesperson for TREA, told NewsMax that the language in the agreement "raises more questions than it answers — such as what is the cost and who is going to pay." http://archive.newsmax.com/...
