Appeals court upholds Arizona immigration law

Good news coming out of Arizona....California can learn A thing or two from Arizona...

PHOENIX (AP) — A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld an Arizona law that penalizes businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants and requires them to verify the employment status of their workers.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision rejected a challenge by business and civil-rights groups that contend the law infringes on federal immigration powers.

The law, intended to lessen the economic incentive for immigrants to sneak into the country, imposes civil penalties on employers by suspending or revoking their business licenses when they are found to have knowingly hired illegal immigrants.

Arizona has a lot of good laws that liberal California would never pass. Too bad.

They are here proam, but we're having a hard time getting past the plantation owners and overseers and  lovers of slave labor in our state legislature.

I wish we had a presidential candidate that would at least talk about the ill's of illegal immigration......Let alone want to do something about it......

States are tired of the feds not enforcing the existing immigration laws so they are slowly passing laws themselves to curb illegal immigration. My hope is that the rest of this country would wake up and follow Arizona's example that illegal immigration can be controlled.

Hey, McBush *TRIED*.  Remember?  In fact, he's now claiming that that mean old Obama is the one who kept him from granting amnesty to all those immigrants.  Or wait...was that *BEFORE* he opposed his own bill?  So hard to tell whether it's a flip or a flop.

samheath, I agree! E-Verify needs to get passed, and enforcement.
