....and what if prop 8 passes??

What cracks me up about the yes on 8 fanatics is that they believe that denying gays to marry will some how make the gay issue go bye,bye..............Because of all the fuss over gay marriage that the haters have created the one thing for sure now is that all their kids are very well aware of Homosexuals.........Gays are part of our society and they are not going to go ''back into the closet'' because some silly proposition passed...........To me it comes down to do I believe that all men are created equal.....The answer is Yes i do............Besides gay marriage will not effect my marriage or my life one bit. I really believe that in 20 years this will be a non-issue because most kids today view homosexuality differently then their folks.............

Fanatics?  Haters?  It seems like you've decided that anybody that disagrees with you is a fanatic, a hater, or both.  This name-calling and stereotyping significantly weakens your argument.

And not that it will make it go bye bye, but at least it doesn't promote it any more then right now. I really don't want my future children growing up around it with a significant impact as it would be without Prop 8. Thank you for the statement blognroll.

That I do agree with. Not name calling the yes supporters but that statement above I 100% agree with

Agree, Blog. I've repeatedly heard genuine concerns dismissed with name-calling so often, I've begun to wonder just who is prejudiced and bigoted.

All I can say is... Regardless of it passing your children are going to grow up around it. Hate to say it. Your children are going to be exposed to homosexuals through tv, friends, family, school, movies, books, music.  No matter where you go they will be there.  The only thing is... is it will be in a negative light.  Look, I went to christian school from pre-k to 8th grade and was taught from my school, my church, and my fmaily that homosexuality is wrong and I STILL am gay. So... People are who they are. And if you think passing some ridiculous amendment will make people not gay... you have a lot to learn, my friend.

OMG the homosexuals are everywhere.....

...slow loud heartbeat and a blurry black and white visage of dracula....

Quick, find a country that has no Homosexuals, like Iran.

I think the sky will fall and the earth will implode on itself if it passes.  But that is just my thoughts.

Parents can control what their children watch on TV and in movies.  They don't  have to read books containing homosexuality, (The last book I read containing homosexuality was in Oprah's book club), the music isn't an issue and school won't be an issue if Prop 8 passes.  As for family and friends, parents can handle that in the manner they choose.  Your arguement is seriously flawed.

I agree Gube~ my life and my marriage are fine,in fact we were glad to see a couple we have known for years become married. So in a way I can say my happiness is increased, because my friend's is.I am happy that the court finally declared the last "law" unconstitutional, and if this passes, look forward to even more money and time being spent to achieve equality for all in America.

Even the Christians.

Those who fear that their kids will learn something in school which contradicts what they're taught in church must have an extremly low opinion of what they're being taught in church--at least in terms of plausibility.  If the dogma can't be persuasively argued unless there is *NO* opposition allowed...maybe it's not very good dogma, da?

I certainly could be wrong, but I'm predicting Proposition 8 will pass.  No matter how much money big companies seem to be throwing on the NO side, I've been hearing mostly YES on 8 commercials, and, for the most part, pretty good ones too.  The one featuring the SF former Mayor is best because it uses his own arrogant-sounding words, accompanied by his a shrill, sadistic-sounding voice to argue YES on 8.

posted by dgrealish on Oct 30, 2008 at 12:31 PM

I'm confident it will pass as well.  I overheard two men last night mocking the SF mayor.  The first time I heard that ad I wasn't watching and thought he was the guy from Monster House.

GUBE ..ha ha and you don't think that gay marriage isn't being promoted now.lol............thanks to prop 8... ALL kids now now about homosexuality..........

ya and the little 'bigoted suckers' think its WRONG can you imagine that??

Case in point..We threw a Bday party this past weekend for our kids..we have 3 in high school.all in October...they brought prop 8 up on their own and it weren't a pretty site if you are a NO supporter...

you guys have yourselves fooled if you think just by being on mother earth.. the future kids will accept Homosexuality as norm without help from your indoctrination efforts..which would be through the schools where parents wont see it..ADMIT IT..and don't give me that crap that you aren't doing it...its starting to happen in the bay area once they get a foot hold it will spread..most gays aren't known for their non aggressive behaviors..OK maybe its not here in our schools yet...but  guess what??

mmmm kinda looks like all the redneck hillbilly naive talk you smart guys are pigeon holing our towns residents in ...from what Ive read lately it over laps into our local gay community as well

Today I read on the front page that the high schools and middle schools offer the sex ed classes and you have a chance to opt out..well I already knew this but here's my point..don't you think its a tad ridiculous to have us make that call simply because your pushing to have your Alternative Lifestyles in the curriculum? It will cause our kids to not be able to take the whole course (which some of them need) just so you can get your annual 20 minutes of fame in an attempt to make them see the light....

that's like a point I made the other day concerning the civil rights era..when a black person goes into a restaurant and they tell them they cant sit at the counter..infact if they don't like it go build our own restaurant..holding that thought.. who's losing their civil rights.. you or us??

If you don't think a normal male child goes eeewwwww when he sees two men suckin face you are sadly mistaken..the only way you will ever change their genetic yuk button is to grab baby's and start swingin that chained amulet..repeating over and over..HOMOSEXUALITY'S THE WAY ...FORGET& nbsp;THE BIBLE...

Go through that little routine during school time where the pledge used to be and before closing time over 18 years and you got yourself a convert..if ya throw in a snickers bar and a glass of milk..maybe even quicker..

Yep and I'm sure you'll enstill a great level of hatred and intolerance in your children and to make sure they don't see people as just being people.   All i can say to that is you think my parents didn't do the same thing?  I went to christian school almost my entire life.  I was surrounded by all of that religious talk and supposed "good morals." What happened to me?  You don't think they chose to teach me in the manner they chose.  And here I am today.

I can't wait for this whole thing to be over with.  Ive seen an ugly side of everyone (including myself) and have completely lost faith in mankind.  Especially Christianity.  Talk about trying to shove your opinions down other peoples throat.  And you know what, I'm quite sure it will pass.  Because people are (to quote a brilliant movie) lying, egotistical, hypocritical, biggots.  But the thing is... I'll be surprised if it's not overturned.  Because the amendment specifically targets a particular group of people.  And i don't see how that is freedom for all.  And I'm tired of the homophobia in this town.  I get it.  You hate gays.  You think they're dogs. I get it.  They're not human.  They're just trash. I get it.  I think the whole issue about "teaching" homosexuality in schools is a scare tactic brought up by the religious reich to make sure their narrowminded dogmatic views are still running this country.

And if it does pass, when it passes (whatever), all it will do is open a very nasty door.  A door to take away other freedoms.  So hopefully you feel satisfied with your decision.

WOW! Talk about ignorance.  Why does everyone think we want to make everyone gay?! We just don't want to be hated so severely.  I've never been hated so much by a group of people who's mantra is love everyone, God is love.  There is NO love in christianity, no matter what they say.  They only love you if you conform to their beliefs.  and... Forget the bible?  Um... not everyone believes the bible... so... I think it would be quite easy to forget it. As a good friend of mine says "You wouldn't perform a surgery with a 1000 year old medical manual."

AND ANOTHER THING (Sorry, i'm laughing at myself right now) My grandmother was taught in school interracial marriage was bad.  Then my mother was taught it wasn't.  What do you think?  And, yet again, I'll say this... I don't think EVEN IF HELL FREEZES OVER AND THEY DO teach homosexuality in school that they're actually going to show to males, two females (although some guys would get a kick out of that), kissing or banging or whatever.  Do they even show images like that now of heterosexuals?  And you say sex ed now... but the ad talks about being taught in second grade or some ridiculous thing like that.  God... get the kids involved and people get angry.  At least the religious reich knows hwo to do dirty politics.

Seems to be working so far.  The kids are far less bigoted than the parents.  Suppose we went through the same thing in the 60's, too...just didn't notice stuck out in nowhere.

.

And I pointed out that what you want is to change the restaurant's policy because they have the *INDECENCY* to let the coloreds eat there too.  Sorry your right to be bigoted is being infringed upon.  Actually, no, I'm not.

That's my prediction, too. It's my Long Defeat.

"“I have fought the long defeat and brought other people on to fight the long defeat, and I’m not going to stop because we keep losing. Now I actually think sometimes we may win. I don’t dislike victory. . . . You know, people from our background — like you, like most PIH-ers [Partner In Health], like me — we’re used to being on a victory team, and actually what we’re really trying to do in PIH is to make common cause with the losers. Those are two very different things. We want to be on the winning team, but at the risk of turning our backs on the losers, no, it’s not worth it. So you fight the long defeat.”

Paul Farmer, Founder of Partners In Health

I have, however, already voted No on the proposition.

One thing struck me very strongly last night at the Fox Theater debate.  The "No on 8" folks were, on average around 15-20 years younger than the "Yes on 8" people.   Time and demographics are on our side.

i just dont understand, in my family we have gays and we love our family, and if anyone says anything wrong then we jump on them, after all it my family...i am not gay and the only thing i want for my brother because he is gay is to be happy with someone of his choice,,,i have explained to my son about gays, its not for us to judge if it is right or wrong GOD will do that,,,,and i have sent my son to those sex classes that the school has for 7th grade also i sented my daughter when she was in school, and they are not gay, they need to be informed, about all the issues in life,,,and i guess what i dont understand is the hate as thats how it comes off...here on these blogs..I told my friend when i die I am going to ask all these questions just to see who was right............lol

gopherbro, you got that one right!   Because the state has gained hundreds of new 18 year old voters  the No on 8 will pass.   The Christian Taliban is alive and well now, they won't be in the future.   The voters of this country have had it with those who would take the rights of others away from them.   Obama's electoral lead in the polls is a prime example that mainstream America has had up to their eyeballs with all the lies.   The "truth" will set you free.  And the truth is that we are all entitled to live our lives and seek our guarantees of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
