jbaldwin - > Musements -> Stripping is DONE!!!
Stripping is DONE!!!
Eight weeks, seven gallons of Jasco, and three garbage sacks full of paint scrapings and goop mean one thing: The dining room is DONE!

Well, not quite. We still have to paint the walls, sand the wood, stain and seal the wood, and replace the crown molding. But at least all of the paint is now officially stripped from the wood!

What a different room it is. It is so warm, and cabiny. I especially like the view of the windows to the sunroom. (And I should -- those were my "Iraq.") Paula did a fabulous job with the buffet. And a special shoutout to Matylda and Ginny, who each donated a few hours of hard work to the project!

We finished just in time for Thanksgiving -- I'm hosting 9 people this turkey day. Hand me a beer!

It looks fantastic Baldwin. That's some great-looking wood you have in your home.

Makes me wonder what the people who white-washed it were smoking when they picked up a paint brush.

That site has some amazing looking glass shades TomW, I have a old fixture that needs two shades,so thanks for that site!...lol~ I want to see some period lighting over that dinning table! Just kidding. I have some wonderful old glass shades that hang from chains, the ends of which fit into the light bulb socket that goes into the ceiling. I took them down because the energy saving bulbs will not fit them.

Neat site -- I do have plans for an Arts & Crafts style chandelier and three sconces. The room is much darker now that it doesn't have all that white paint to bounce light around.

I was just pointing out the push button switches, but they've got some other cool stuff too.  Nice that you're looking at Arts and Crafts vs. Craftsman.  If I remember right, your home predates the real craftsman period.

Sage, some of the new CFLs should fit inside your lights. If not, hang onto the fixture for a few years until the price of LEDs comes down.

Sage, you gotta let yourself have a few of those.  I've decided to have a refrigerator. ;-)

BTW, for anyone doing plumbing on these old places, the favorite place of mine is on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com/Claw...

Good resource and good prices.
