No more credit card junk mail?

One thing I've noticed in the past couple of weeks, perhaps due to the tanking financial industry, is I haven't gotten a single offer for a new credit card in the mail. Thank goodness! My junk mail has decreased significantly.

It will be interesting to figure out how many trees will be saved during the credit freeze.

Strange. My pre-approved credit card offers have increased. Right now, I am a beneficiary of a sizable probate. The prospect took me by surprise, I never knew there was that kind of loot in the family. I don't count it yet. I tell inquirers that the money is not mine. It is in probate. An unknown love child could come out of the woodwork. So could a litigant we don't know of.

Well, look what I could do with all this money.

There is no "all this money;" it's in probate.

Well, when you do get it....

I don't know that. It's in probate.

Meanwhile, I'm getting all kinds of "pre-approved" credit card offers. Like spending money I don't have. Scary. Isn't this what got us into the financial mess congress is dealing with now?

We've noticed a lot more pre-approved credit card offers in the mail than before.

Mine go straight to the shredder. I learned my lesson on credit cards back in the mid 80s and have never owned one since.

Since my shredder broke, my mail has been piling up for a week now.  In the past I would recieve about 2-3 credit card offers a week.  If I would go through my pile right now, I doubt I would find a single offer, and all I can say is thank god.
