The Windows curse!!!

As a GNU/Linux purist, I've often felt the sting of the windows curse, but never actually received it directly. Microsoft earned it's way into the home by being a usable computer system by average people. Today, Windows is still the home computer user's operating system of choice, but the problem is that it is becoming something incompatible with the people who use it. How many times have you had to call a computer repair service, or that "computer guy" nephew in the past year?

Chances are you've had to call for help at least once this year. Don't be afraid to admit it though, some people call for help every 4-6 moths, or more! Others give up and only use their computer as a last resort. Forget hopping online and finding out what the capitol of Montana is, just call that cousin who loves trivia questions. You're not alone if if you've had to call for help with the computer, especially to remove viruses, spyware, adware, pop-ups, etc.

The local computer repair places LOVE your business, they know if I tell you about "Ubuntu", and teach you how to use it, you'll never need them again. And they need your $300 to come out for 90 minutes, sell you some software and show you how much smarter they are than you. Sure capitalism is the best system, but you have to use it to your advantage. Don't just say, "come fix my computer" to company "X", ask them what they'll give you for your money, and then tell them what company "A", "B", and "C" offered.

So back to the Windows curse... every single computer company in town RELIES on Windows to be crap! Some have even told me those exact words, the others said it in nicer ways. Anyone want to see that list of companies? (Maybe later)

My point, I'm done with the computer repair biz here, I'll still do my networking stuff, but  I'm done with working in an environment where  the worst product is pushed because the better choice doesn't keep customers flooding back in every two days.

I will be moving out of California in the next 2 to 4 months, and the only reason I see myself coming back is for family purposes. I already know where I'm moving to, but I'm trying to build up a little savings before the move. Wish me luck, and less taxes!
