This town hates tall, skinny, boys!
I just spent a frustrating afternoon at that bastion of consumerism, The Mall. My son needed some new pants (because he keeps growing, the little weed), so we went in search of some. First stop was JC Pennys. One pair of 9 Slims in the entire store, and one pair of 10 Slim school pants with adjustable waistbands. Thinking about buying larger pants, and just getting a few belts to hold them on? Hope you like black braided leather, because that's the only style they have in his size. A quick once-through of their "big and tall" section (the largest of any store in town) for myself, and out we go with his two pants. Forget going to Macy's (who hates boys with such a passion their "boys" section is no larger than a bathroom) or Sears (more Husky sized clothing than normal size, so forget being skinny), or The Children's Place (where boys are banished to two small corners of the entire store), the only place left would be Old Navy. Good luck there, because they've moved from the Rule of 2/3rds (2/3rds of the store for female clothing, 1/3 for men) to 3/4ths (where women now control 3/4ths of the entire store). You can't even buy larger than fitting pants there, because they don't have any belts for boys.

I've had to stop shopping at the Mall for myself as well, because of the aforementioned lack of Tall clothing.

In general, this town hates children and smart people. Proof? There is no longer a toy store or a book store in the mall. What other mall in America has no book store, and no toy store? Can the Valley Plaza staff answer that one for me?

If you look around at all of the fat little kids in this town, you'll see that tall and slim is OUT! ;)

Ode (owed) to a Mattloch:

"It must be hell to be you

perfect and all

if you want your percieved due

why even go to the mall?"

Matt, you might want to try the Men's Wearhouse or Patrick James for pants. There really isn't much of a selection for men's clothes here in town. And you are dead on regarding Valley Plaza and the terrible management in place there. It is without question the worst mall I have personally ever experienced, and as a former retailer who had to shop a variety of competitors over the years I have seen plenty of malls throughout America.

If you want to know why so many fat kids in Bakersfield just look at their parents.  It's an epidemic.  Too much fast food and too many couch potatoes.

Matt, it's not just Bakersfield.  I spent the better part of two weeks scouring Tampa for a pair of 36-34 jeans.  None to be found.  Plenty of 40, 42 and 44 -34's (shocking, since most of the fat people here are also shorter than me), but no 36's.  I'd even accept a 38-34 and just wear a belt, but I couldn't find any of those either.  I finally gave up in frustration and went to the one place I should have gone first.  Online.  Sure enough, after filtering out all the profanity in my search term, Google directed me Denim Warehouse, where they have every conceivable size combination known to man, and all of them in stock.  They even had free shipping before Christmas if you bought $75 worth, so I am now the proud owner of 3 pairs of new jeans that actually fit.  I know with kids it can be tough getting the size right from one day to the next, but if you're certain about the size, save your time and gas money and shop the Internet.

I always kinda thought that when I couldn't find my size, and there was nothing but the big sizes left, it was because the common sizes were sold out and the "lower demand" sizes were all that was left.  Glass half full I guess.

You can also buy jeans on Amazon.  I usually buy my Levi's in bulk anyway so when I destroy my current batch, that's where I'm going.

Have you looked at Floyds? They have all sizes of denim pants, plus you can buy ammo for your guns.

Didn't Levi drop Floyds as a client?  Or was it Wrangler?

Floyd's only has 800 fps cowboy loads for 45LC

Even SAS doesn't have Buffalo Bores (equiv to 44 mags ballistics in 45 LC)

They don't have 4 ought buck either

Use to wear 33X38 Wranglers but for some reason they started making them smaller and smaller.  I don't get it . I weigh about the same but those bastards keep making them smaller.

Naw

That would defeat the entire purpose

After all you could have emailed the pink AR to me too

Lets just say it was something a "handyman" like yourself could utilize

BTW, I did buy one of grand daughters one of these a while back at Bako's 2nd Amendment in fact

Well, Chico, I guess this is the first time I've ever seen you act coy.  Fair enough.  I don't follow your logic with the emailing since you actually did post the thing here, but I guess we've all got our own quirks.

Happy New Year.
