Adult stem-cell research gets 10 of first 14 grants
I don't think the Prop. 71 backers quite had this in mind when they passed the initiative. For one thing, there may be some wondering whether this would curb the barbaric practice of slaughtering embryos so that others may live. Unfortunately, there are some politicians who, as the father of the wheelchair-bound man pictured below says, "are putting us back in the stone age," and it's not those on the right. Try those on the left, who seem wanting to regress to the days of the Mayans and continue to offer bloody sacrifices to Quetzalcoatl. I pray and hope that the resounding successes of adult stem-cell research will drive a stake into the heart of the foul-smelling beast otherwise known as embryonic stem-cell research. Published: November 4, 2009 California Stem-cell Institute Makes First Development Grants10 of 14 Go to Adult Stem-Cell Research
Five years after the passage of Proposition 71, the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine is awarding grants for stem-cell research targeted at clinical applications. In what both the San Diego Union-Tribune and Knight Science Journalism Tracker are calling an “irony,” ten of the 14 grants are going to researchers working with adult stem-cells. © California Catholic Daily 2009. Why won't you address the question rather than the embryo issue? “Justin and his father both believe that the procedure Justin will receive next month, which uses solely adult stem cells taken from his own body, should be legalized in the U.S. ‘The politicians in this country are putting us back in the stone age,’ Chester (Pryor) said. “The stem cells Justin is going to receive in Germany are going to come from his own body. Now you tell me why the politicians here will not allow that in this country.’” posted by

Thank Allah for embryonic stem cell research. Thank the voters for passing the funding bill. And curses to those who delayed it unnecesarily and to no good effect. Pax knows--but cannot admit--that Shrub's incredibly bad decision effectively to halt research did not save a single life. How many died because the vital research was delayed, we'll never know. We only know what we do about adult stem cells *BECAUSE* of ESC research. posted by

Who would benefit the least from a treatment which does not involve drugs? Do pharmaceutical companies really want researchers to find cures for human diseases?

There is no law in this country (that I know of) that is against using adult stem cells. Research is going on all the time. The article is an editorial against embryonic stem cell research. posted by

If the FDA had it's way, EVERY single human being in this country would be on at least one or more of their "drugs". Why people can't see this is beyond me. The FDA comes out with a "new disease" just about every week.........and people fall all over themselves to get the new drug! posted by

Looks like RF the bully dictator wants to do a Caesar and decide who lives and who doesn't. Picking on the little ones instead of someone his own size, for shame. It looks like the prophecy of "a new evil" comparable to abortion may have been fulfilled with the news of stem cell breakthrough that could create babies without men, women or sexual relations: http://www.lifesitenews.com... The most telling remark from the article about the prophecy that was the focus of Michael Brown's book "Tower of Light": With it we reach the point where we create humans so we can destroy them and harvest their remains. It is subtle and microscopic and out of view: but did they do anything worse in Nazi Germany? Welcome to bizarro world, folks. While I'm all for adult stem-cell research, the fuhrers like Randomfactor wants to play God even though he doesn't believe in one. posted by

Looks like Pax doesn't want to look at the facts. Not surprising, as they're not on his side. They never are. But hey, Pax, if you want me to be Caesar, I'd be much better at the job than that idiot heading the Vatican, who's leading your cult back to the Dark Ages. Just remember to render unto me properly and often. It's in the Bible, you know.
