Fred Thompson outta the race...
There was speculation; now there's a statement: Thompson is out of the race for prez.
He had some support in Kern County. Any Thompson folks care to chime in on where their vote is going now? Does this affect the R side of the race or had his campaign already slipped too far behind McCain, Romney, Giuliani? On the D side: Is Edwards far behind or is he still viable? If he'd handed the presidency as he did his campaign, he'd have been a horrible president. We need a Hercules, not a Morpheus. posted by

He handled his campaign like he didn't want to win bad enough, that's all. If he would have become president, he would have been a president that didn't want the job very badly. Maybe that's a good thing. You have to wonder about the ones that want it too much. posted by

It was fun while it lasted, but we knew the republican race had to slim down soon. Fred Thompson knew he had very little chance of winning, so he did what he had to do. It is still very possible that Thompson could be on the ticket in the general election as V.P. posted by

I'm really undecided now. Without Fred, my vote will go to Huckabee. I'm not happy but I can't handle Romney. I'm OK with McCain except for immigration. Criminy..what a sad lineup. But at least it's better than the choices on the other side of the fence. Where's Alfred Newman when you need him? posted by
