The Brown-Black Vote
In Thursday's paper, we tried to figure out why Kern County voted the way it did, including why Clinton whomped Obama. That included a spirited discussion of whether Latinos will vote for an African-American. And it resulted in some interesting discussion on the TBC blogs. Today, the AP ran a story that examines the issue from a national perspective. Is Candi Easter wrong? Or is Dean Florez saying what we wants to believe, rather than what really is?

Let's see: 4 years of George Bush; 8 years of Bill & Hill (& Monica); 8 years of another George Bush. What now? A possible 8 more years of Bill & Hill? How is that change? I think Obama's lack of "experience" is just the experience the country needs. Too bad Hispanics can't see that. posted by

Obama is good-looking, a good orator, and has been proven (so far) a hell of a campaigner. I wish he were a Republican! posted by

I'll go along with all you said Chico except the good looking thing. Of course that's not a prerequisite for candidacy but it helps to be acceptable in the looks department. Now the barrage about being superficial might begin but like I've said before...how people talk, how they think..and how they vote, may not all be in sync. I'd much rather have intelligence over looks. And I don't want to hear any ballyhooing from the left since they loved telling us what they thought Fred Thompson looked like..........
