Former press secretary slams Bush in new memoir

Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan was considered one of President Bush's most loyal aides, but his new tell-all memoir is less than flattering of his former boss and the administration.

Among McClellan's revelations:

• Says Bush relied on “propaganda” to sell the Iraq war.

• Says the White House press corps was too easy on the administration during the run-up to the war.

He does describe Bush as 'sincere.'

The book was mentioned on Today this morning. One observation was that the former press secretary writes about meetings he did not attend. The author is slated to be interviewed tomorrow on the Today show.

Those meetings with Rove and Scooter? He does not discuss what was said in those, just that it was "unusual" for those two to meet behind closed doors~ especially during the investigation about who knew what when.

The sad truth is we will never know, what with disappearing emails etc just how near we came to ruin. Those few will never be held accountable except in the harsh light of history. That's your cue Bush apologists.

I believe that "extraordinary rendition" of Bush and Cheney combined with "enhanced interrogation" could get them to agree to whatever version of the story you'd like, Sage.

One day he's an unabashed shill for a corrupt administration, the next day he's out of a job and needs people to buy his book.

So, he cashes in, blowing the whistle on his former employer for the lies and BS he helped foist off on the gullible public.

If McClellan at least apologized for his part in the big scam, he might find some redemption from a disgusted public..

Instead,  while freely admitting his role in helping generate septic tanks full of administration bullshit, he acknowledges no culpability, saying only that he was duped.

Even liberals who you'd think would be happy to have the truth of the administration's spin machine out in the sunlight can't find it in their hearts to take this slimeball's whining seriously.

He knowingly lied for the money and position of power, therefore anything he says now after being cast off by them is suspect.

Besides, the world is already quite aware of the Bush/Cheney administration's prevarications. He adds little, if anything at all of substance to the reeking dung heap of Republican excrement we've been choking on for eight long years.

Expect more vetting from a growing legion of soon-to-be former Bush administration hacks to emerge from the White House outhouse who will soon become the nation's next generation of lobbyists, hucksters, pols and corporate bitches.

Bush's sorry ass legacy will eclipse that of the worst leaders this country has ever seen.

To quote Dorothy Parker-- "This book shouldn't be put down, it should be hurled with great force."

I'm positive McClellan is just lining his pockets......doesn't mean he's lying though.

98/100 historians polled say Bush was terrible, and the majority say he was the worst President ever, and he's not even done yet.

But I can hear the neocons now, "Those Professors are all liberals, I can tell because they have degrees in the subject of which they speak."

I'm not a historian, but I do teach in colleges, and I don't think Bush was terrible, or that he was the worst President ever.  I think he made mistakes, some of them, big ones.

But propagandists have been successful in convincing many of an extremist characterization of him as a sort of Hitler-lite that just doesn't jive with the facts.

They've even convinced many Republicans to turn their backs on the President and to distance themselves from him, just for the sake of political posturing.  It's wrong.  It's very wrong.  It's okay to criticize him, but many have gone way overboard.

BLT, he got tens of thousands of people killed in an unnecessary war which he justified through lies.  That's quite a "mistake."

It's not fair to compare Hitler to Bush. Hitler at least had a plan.

Look, lots of people have compared Bush with Hitler.  But never *FAVORABLY.*
