So much for change
From politico.com comes the story of two Muslims who were banned from sitting with Obama during photos or television interviews so their headscarves wouldn't appear in the pictures. It's an interesting read and delves into the tightrope politicians walk when trying to construct a public 'image.' 7 comments from 7 users

Staff are allowed to have opinions. Look at the title of this particular blog. Politics is all about taking sides. Obama is not offering change. He is offering the same cake that George McGovern served, only with different frosting. posted by

I'm sure Obama agreed to this It was done by volunteers and Obama knew nothing about it. If he had, I'm betting he would have wanted the women in the picture. As it was, when Obama found out he apologized to the women.

" It was done by volunteers and Obama knew nothing about it."
How many times will we be hearing this if he becomes President? If he can't control a campaign staff, and take responsibility for their actions, how the heck is he going to operate all the government departments? But keep pulling the race card whenever you smell criticism, that won't start getting old to everybody soon.

What kind of political landscape is it where someone has to think about these things, lest some room-temperature-IQ right-wing blogger decides Obama's scarf is an "accessory to terrorism" or something? Oh, right--a FoxNews(tm) kind of landscape. posted by

Please, driln. You've got one guy who doesn't have control of all the details of his campaign staff vs. a guy who doesn't even have control of himself. http://www.youtube.com/watc...

LOLOLOLOLOLOL...The reporters and news agenciesdon't try and influence events? Are you serious? Can you say "Dan Rather"? I realize that reporters are SUPPOSED to be neutral, and some, such as the late Tim Russert, were very successful, but most journalists are on one side or the other and their writing shows it. Besides..a scoop is a scoop. Many young reporters(and many old ones too, I guess) just want their "by" line on the front page. The facts are irrelevant. It'll all get straightened out later. Just as with the recent flap over Paul Newman's buddy making a statement about Paul's cancer, The NBC interview with Dubya, the obvious siding they did with Obama over Hillary..The news media tell us what they want us to hear and figure we'll worry about the facts later. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. As to this particular story, I don't know what to make of it, but I doubt Obama was that upset about it. Like it or not, this is a bad time to be seen in the company of Muslims. It may not be right or fair, but it is what it is and denying that a presidential hopeful doesn't recognize that fact is silly.
