Kern tops 300,000 voters

The upcoming November Presidential Election has driven Kern County voter registration above the 300,000 point for the first time in history, said Kern County Elections Chief Sandy Brockman Monday.

Currently registration sits at 300,307 voters — up from 287,672 before the June primary elections.

Voters have until October 20 to register for this historic election.

Brockman is expecting record voter turn out — above 80 percent.

"I'd expect this will be the biggest turnout Kern County has ever had," Brockman said.

Cheers for democracy!

Could be disconcerting, depending on your perspective,.... for sure.

Random,

You ask. I deliver.

Registered Republicans: 136,804

Registered Democrats: 108,071

Decline to State: 44,868

Which leaves around 10,000 people in the other, smaller parties.

For context, in June's presidential primary, the breakdown went like this:

Republicans: 132,861

Democrats: 103,179

Decline to state: 41,494

I didn't know until hearing Ms. Brockman say it on the radio a couple hours ago, it is California law that a person does NOT have to show any ID to register to vote.  Seems that you would have to take any registration numbers with a big ol' honkin' grain of salt.

drilnliftcrude, My Husband went down to change his party affiliation. He handed her his DL and she said "Oh No, I'm not allowed to look at your ID. We couldn't hardly believe it. No wonder we have a problem with voter fraud. Maybe we are the ones that need to have some foreign country come show us how it's done. Looks like it will be a free for all...Think they'd let us vote in Canada, or Mexico? NO! We have become a spineless, ruthless, accept anything, and everything country. Don't matter whether its right, or wrong, lawful, or unlawful. Do whatever makes you feel good. Heck the Government does. So much for being an American citizen amounting to anything special anymore.
