Congressman gets a sandwich named after him
So I stopped by the downtown Sequoia Sandwich shop the other day and spotted this sign. Apparently they have created a new sandwich and named it after Kevin McCarthy, one of our local congressmen. So what is the sandwich equivalent of our fast-rising Republican leader? Cracked pepper turkey, marinated artichoke hearts, cream cheese, onions, lettuce and tomatoes on a soft Pyrenees roll. Sounds pretty eclectic. Not sure artichoke hearts and cream cheese is a natural combination, but their cracked pepper turkey is top knotch. My next question: what would Jim Costa's sandwich be? 15 comments from 7 users

If they want repeat business, they should have a "MacArthur Special" on March 12th... You shall return! posted by

I make a killer cream cheese"every vegetable known to man " sandwich ( well almost every vegetable) that features capers, so those chokes would add tang. Think artichoke/spinach/cream cheese dip...sandwich sounds not half bad.

Blech! Sounds gross. "Cracked pepper turkey, marinated artichoke hearts, cream cheese, onions, lettuce and tomatoes on a soft Pyrenees roll." I agree about the marinated artichoke hearts and cream cheese--there's a reason that combo hasn't already been invented. And really, I don't see how this sandwich was inspired by McCarthy anyway. Pyrenees roll? More like White Bread. posted by

Learnem-- "a nice greasy pork sandwich, served in a dirty ashtray" Haha--I see you're a fellow "Weird Science" fan. I was actually thinking "P, B & J with the crusts cut off." From "The Breakfast Club."
