Florez to Gov: Stop tweeting and get to work

OMG, no wonder we don't have a budget deal. Look at what's going on in Sacto, courtesy this press release from Dean Florez's office:

SACRAMENTO -- Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez, D-Shafter, called on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to “stop tweeting his obsession with cow tails and start tweaking the Budget to move us toward a solution.”

While Florez has been meeting with Senate leadership to negotiate a Budget that would allow the state to avoid issuing costly IOUs, Schwarzenegger has been repeatedly posting on Twitter to mock legislation aimed at ending animal cruelty -- which California voters identified as a high priority with their overwhelming support of Proposition 2.

The Governor even sent a camera crew to videotape the Assembly Agriculture Committee hearing at which Florez’s legislation to end the crude amputation of cows’ tails was presented by Assemblymember Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, who was already set to be present as a member of the committee.

Senate policy committees for Wednesday were cancelled.

Florez derided the use of staff for the taping and subsequent YouTube posting as a clear waste of the state’s resources.

“I do not understand why the Governor would spend his time and the state’s resources mocking the prevention of animal cruelty.  For my part, I am proud to have introduced the bill, thankful that it passed, and continuing to focus on my work to help prevent the state from going to IOUs.  I can’t imagine the Governor doesn’t have better things to do with his time as well during this crisis,” Florez said.

“We are still waiting for the Governor to sit down at the table with the State Senate and lay out what it will take to get him to support a Budget that does not hurt the most vulnerable citizens of this state.”

I've been following @Schwarzenegger, and I'm wondering if someone's messing with us.. either a hacker or something else.  Some of his tweets today have been rather juvenile..

I think Tweeter, or Twitter, or whatever it is called is reaching out to a demographic that I am thankfully not a part of.  Does anyone else feel the way I do?  Everyone seems to have a MySpace or Facebook page and they talk about poking and buying friends, and it all goes over my head.  What is a 3-G network anyway, and is it better than 3-D?  I know I only want my phone for one thing - for receiving and making calls (oh yes, and telling time - I quit wearing watches) and I use my computers to browse the web, compose letters and checking email.  In a world where everyone has their own domain and URL, I guess the blog is the closest thing I have to actually thinking people give a hoot about what I have to say.  I don't write for anyone else but me - I view blogging as an Anne Frank diary - I write in it for myself and then others sneak in and read it while I'm held hostage by family friends and work.

REALLY SENATOR FLOREZ?! A waste of resources? How about the fact that while on the brink of disaster, we all spent 4.2 million dollars on vehicles for you all to drive, including your $50,000 Lexus (which was the third most expensive public employee vehicle IN THE STATE!). Start driving your own car to work, fill out a mileage report like everyone else and then talk to me about abuse of resources. Shame on you and the rest of the incapable individuals we've entrusted with our economy. Shame.

Oh Please, what budget is Florez working on? More taxes to suppprt his illegal buddies? Arnold is listening to the voters of this State who VOTED, NO MORE TAXES!! We can't afford it!! If the Dems could come up with a plan without taking more money out of our pockets, I'm for it, until then, be quiet Dean, and YOU get to work, cutting taxes!!!!

Oh Please, what budget is Florez working on? More taxes

I sure hope so.   The voters didn't say "no more taxes," they said "cut the crap and do your jobs."

Is this blog (claptrap) the newspaper industry's answer to their financial problems?  If so, let's hope the Bakersfield Californian quicky follows the McClatchy Company -- Fresno and Sacramento Bee -- into bankruptcy.

A report yesterday from Forbes.com said the McClatchy Co. is at risk of defaulting on its debt by the end of the year. Pending a showing of goodwill by debtors, including Bank of America, the publisher of 30 daily newspapers could be forced into bankruptcy. -- Fresno Business Journal

FloridaStateGrad - The fact that some of the tweets are juvenile is proof that it is Arnold!

The McClatchy company is one of the biggest cheapskates I've ever run into and the people working for them are a bunch of turds, to put it mildly.   Who wants to read their garbage anyway?  I do hope they are forced into Bankruptcy so the Hearst Corporation can take over.
