Two alarm blaze Friday
Friday, September 28, 2007 at 1310 hrs (1:10 p.m. PDT) a two alarm blaze  was responded to by the Bakersfield FIRE Department consisting of  6 engines, 2 ladder trucks, 2 squads, 2 battalion chiefs, 1 arson unit and various support units. First arriving BFD companies reported heavy fire involving an entire 1600 sq.ft. house and significant involvement to an adjacent home.

A second alarm was called upon arrival of the battalion chief. Bakersfield City FIRE crews deployed lines to the second home to stop the progress of the fire. Aggressive interior attach stopped the fire in the attic. Salvaging operations saved most of the contents of the second home though some water damage was reported. The first home of involvement was vacant at the time and was unsecured. A systematic search of both homes was done in search of victims, but none were found.

819 Deanna sustained major damage. No one was living in the home, but personal belongings of the previous resident were completely destroyed. 817 Deanna sustained structural damage and loss of the roof.

One civilian bystander became overheated and agitated by the fire and was treated at the scene but not transported. The fire is currently under investigation by the Bakersfield FIRE Department Arson Units.

Damage estimates for both homes is in the range of $275,000.
