WHAT DO YOU DO WITH LEFTOVER HALLOWEEN CANDY ?

OK Although I scared more people with my Yankee uniform yesterday ...I bought three bags of candy only 7 kids came to the door....... Now I have about 40 pieces of good candy that I don't know what to do with...

For years I would always buy stuff I would like and the next week eating enough candy to make up for a year....Someone suggested at work to buy candy I don't like ...well Now Ive got Snicker and Reese's cups ......( I am allergic to peanuts) staring at me....Almond Joys are gone already............

What do you do with yours ???

I live on a side street that is visited just a few times by trick-or-treaters. Mrs. Catpaw once took our left over stale junk to the homeless shelter. I don't know if they accepted it to be polite or if they really distributed it.

This year I drew the drapes, turned off the lights and watched "Interview with a vampire."  A nice senile neighbor brought over about a dozen homemade halloween cookies. They're yummy, but I break them in half; I know at least one has an embedded razor blade.

I don't know if they still do it but stores used to donate to send to the military overseas.  I don't know if they eat it all or not but it would be a great way to make little kids over there happy.

Maybe people could set up donation centers.  It would help our waistlines and benefit someone.

Thanksgiving--Christmas is around the corner....makes for nice gifts when visitors stop by---or when LING needs a sugar rush...

refi:  That's an easy question.  Eat it.  Not all of it, of course.  What I don't like so much I give to my daughter to distribute at work.  There's a lesson in this:  only buy candy you like!

I had only one kid show up. I'll just take it to work tomorrow and put it on my desk. I already have a co-worker with a bowl of Hersey's Kisses on his desk. Somehow I think the Kit Kats will be a bigger hit, heh.

As for the military suggestion, call the local Army Reserves, Marine Reserves and National Guard offices (choose your favorite). I'm sure they could put you in touch with the family support coordinator who would gladly take the extra candy for care packages. They're listed in the US Government section of the Yellow Pages at the front of the book under their respective branches of service. That way you make sure it goes to local troops.

I'm glad I just saw this blog. It reminded me I needed to go reset my front yard sprinklers to their regular watering time. On Halloween I have them run from 6pm to 9pm. They overspray onto the sidewalk leading to the front door. And I NEVER have any trick or treaters.

What a waste of water just to get rid of trick or treaters CheckMate. Have you not read this: www.bakersfield.com/news/local/x1625803119/Kern-C ounty-just-can-t-shut-off-the-tap? I really hope you were joking because not only is that a waste of water, it's a good way to waterlog your lawn and shock it right before winter sets in.

Shwaine, I am on a water meter, so any water I use I pay for. That is my prerogative. I also keep my a/c set at 72 degrees in the summer, and my heater at 76 degrees in the winter. I have 2 plasma TVs in my house. I have a pool and a spa, which I run every day of the year. And I pay my PG&E bill in full every month.

However, maybe I'm joking....

Back ON Topic .... I let the hubby munch on it for a day or so, then take it to work, we have a candy dish out almost year 'round, for employee's and/or customers. As long as i keep it FAR out of reach from my desk I am all good....diet starts tomorrow 7 a.m. sharp!

I didn't buy any so I don't have any leftovers.  I'm sad.  And I forgot to go forage for candy corn.  I'm really sad now  All the good marked down stuff is gone and I forgot it.  8-(
