Elemental Disruption

"Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats." Diane Arbus

My life seems to operate sideways~ backwards almost~ and I have come to see thats right for me. A rain of snakes, disruption that cause's growth ,the world split in two.Everyone has there own path, mine has been one of thought, mostly of things folks today seem to disregard. Truth, personal integrity,politeness,...not all eschew these things. For me its been the easiest way to be~ any other way leads me to more trouble..and a sense of humor, above all about myself. Laughter keeps a person sane, and I enjoy seeing the coyote in myself~ the eternal trickster

Men Who Stare At Goats

I caught wind of this film about 7 months ago and apart for those poor goats( no real goats were harmed in the making of the film) this looks like a good time. We all need a good laugh now and again.

This is a link to Huffington Post video that shows the real men behind the story.

Opens November 6th.

Disclaimer: I do not own stock in this movie.

Yet the dude abides. ;-)

It looks fascinating, Sage. Are any of the speakers in the HuffPo video the ones who were the psychics (or whatever they called them)?  I probably better read the book. If it comes out in November, it probably won't get captioned until it's in video and that usually means all the hoopla is over with by the time I see it.

Sorry Ray~ these must frustrate the heck out of you. Yes the men in the video were participants in the program.

I plan on reading the book myself.

I'm way beyond "heck".  Drives me insane. Makes me want to break things.

Thanks for the links sage. Looks funny. I think we're going to see The Informant today, and plan to see the Goats movie when opens. All the same group, you know. Clooney, Pitt, Damon...those guys.

I can only imagine.  We "normies" take so much for granted. Even me and I should know better.

I want to see The Informant~ looks good.

The bit where Clooney yells at the guy running and says" we're Americans and we're here to help you!" ...and then hits him with his car cracked me up.

Clooney is a great comedic actor who gets no credit for it,IMHO.

sage, if people would stop focusing on some "political" agenda they look for in his movies and just watch his performance, they would get it. He is hilarious. His comic wit and timing is fantastic.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!  It's got that sincerity-through-silliness factor I love in comedies, and four of my favorite actors:  Jeff Bridges (The Dude, ; ) George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey.  A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!

Thanks for the head-up, Sage.  I cannot WAIT to see this.

Stellar cast. And bizarre real story~ what more can you ask for?

And hot. You forgot "hot". Leave my husband for your fine azz kinda hot.

LOL ~ leave the husband in the dust...he looks real good in this film.

A must see!

I don't have a husband, but if I did, I would leave him so fast for George Clooney OR Jeff Bridges it would make his head swim.  Thanks Sage

You forgot "hot". Well, bakoblue, I will admit he has some level of good looks...speaking strictly as one man evaluating another on a non sexual basis. Though I would not characterize him as "hot" per se, he does extrude a high level of manliness that some, ok, all women (and some men) find attractive. I, however, only find him fun to watch because of his acting style. My wife thinks he's hot. That works too.

It's good when couples can agree on actors they enjoy watching...regardless of the reasons they enjoy watching them :-)

Sellsnew --- have you seen The Fisher King? Jeff Bridges is wonderful in that movie.

posted by sellsnew on Oct 24, 2009 at 02:09 PM

I have not seen Fisher King and I have a friend that is constantly "amazed" at the good movies I haven't seen. I'm meeting my sisters for a yearly get-a-way and this year I plan on bringing some DVD's.  I loved Pride & Prejudice that a sister hasn't see that is already packed, now I will add this to the list.  How about at least two more suggestions?

I admit I am going to be torn in this movie, as far as hot men go...Clooney,Bridges and McGregor... lol.

Bridges was really good in Arlington Road too. Creepy movie. Makes you wonder about your neighbors.

As soon as I saw the ads for this movie I was ready to see it. Did you notice Jeff Bridges hair?  It's not every man who can pull off that look.  JB looks good in a braid.

In the movie The Morning After  http://www.imdb.com/title/t...  Jeff Bridges' character is from Bakersfield.  Jane Fonda is in this movie also.  Not the best movie ever but not the worst. Interesting plot twist.

Starman was a good Movie of his. I always cry when he saves the deer.  http://www.imdb.com/title/t...

K-PAX was good too.  Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges are both in it.  http://www.imdb.com/title/t...

Sorry sys_mom~ i got caught up in drama yesterday...

Great movie you mentioned~ and yes J. B. pulls off that braid very nicely!

This season looks to finally have some good films coming out,I have hopes for this film, Alice in Wonderland, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and The Wolfman....I am hoping there is a jewel or two from the indies as well.
