Nancy Pelosi is a despicable liar
Openness, she claimed. "Drain the swamp", she said. All bills will be put on the Internet for 72 hours BEOFRE consideration, she promised. This horrible, disgusting witch pushed through a "health care" bill that the American people have said they do not want. and that none of the Congressmen read. But that does not matter to her or the Democrats - and that is why they forced it through on Saturday night. They believe that the public just don't pay attention on the weekend. But they are wrong. The people will rise up against these anti-American, anti-Constitution fools, and we will take our nation back. 27 comments from 13 users

Amen to that, Savvydude. No doubt this will come back to haunt them one way or another. It's too bad that the cold water that has been thrown onto this proposal hasn't splashed on you know who:

Since you don't seem to get out much, there is a *LARGE* segment out here that do *NOT* share your sentiments about Pelosi and her antics...even democrats will back me there. is this guy you?

I believe only time will tell on the outcome of the health care bill. As such, I'm an opponent of nationalized health care as I again cite examples of goverment mismanagment on numerous items. One shining example of course is the US postal system which has to compete (and therefore, is easily compared) with UPS, FedEx, DHL and others. Furthermore, this healthcare is partly paid by people making over $500K ($1,0M for couples) and I ask once again, what has the successful people done against America for our goverment to hate them so much? Is being successful a crime now? The bottom line is cost and quality of care. Will the 85% of Americans that had healthcare will now be subjtected to less care to apease the 15% or so? I sincerely hope not. I am sure this passage is something Obama will wear on his sleave for a long time, good or bad. But, I do agree on one thing - this administration, including Peolsi, is not transparent and is now pitting half our country against them. Way to mend the relationship? I think not. posted by

Savvydude, really crummy header, and really worse comments. Are you worried about the little folk getting a little too close to your mansion on the hill? The majority of Americans are elated that the Health Care Bill passed the House. Casooner90, why cite the US Postal Service as a mismanaged government entity? It is not failed, and delivers a tremendous service at the lowest possible rates. The major obstacles for returning the Postal Service to the black are the health and retirement benefit plans costs and the impact of this deep recession. The drop in volume with over 20 billion fewer pieces of mail over this epic recession has impacted the USPS revenue stream significantly, but this is a short term problem that certainly can be addressed and managed. The costs of heath benefits and retirement packages are the the major challenges that have no real fix in sight. An accounting change that the Postal Service has recommended where funding for retirement could come from the pool of retirement funds instead of from operating cash reserves would make a $4 billion dollar swing and allow the Postal Service much greater flexibility going forward. I think the company's proposal to end delivery service on Saturdays has merit and would also contribute to righting the ship. Having used all the private carriers in this country for years from a variety of trucking companies to UPS, FedEx, DHL, Airborne and others I have found the USPS to be just as reliable and far less expensive to use. I cannot imagine our country without the USPS, and having this excellent public organization compete with the giants of the private sector has helped contain shipping costs for everyone.

How does that promise and reality of delivering mail by the government measure up to the promise and reality of delivering a flu vaccine? And I hope my future government health care provider doesn't have to eliminate Saturday health services to "right the ship". posted by

I posted this comment on my own blog on this subject, but might as well post it here, too: I read that the U.S. Catholic bishops lended their "full-throated approval" to the bill now that the abortion funding provision was scuttled. I'm still leery of it, though, for what it would do to our economy and because of its unconstitutional mandate. An extensive debate between the Senate and House in working out a final version is likely to follow. If senators try to change the amendment to allow abortion funding, they likely will doom its passage. After all, 39 Democrats still voted against the bill even with the amendment. And I bet the lone Republican who supported it, a staunch Catholic conservative like myself, as well as the bishops will backtrack on their support if the amendment is altered in any way. posted by

I stated yesterday, on another blog, that I was going to start reading the headings and decide whether to get into the fray. This one seems a little one-sided to me, no place to make a logical arguement or get a reasonable response. Health Care Reform has passed the House, under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi. She did a good job of getting it through, akin to hearding cats. I respect her for that. If you conservatives can't well then that is your problem. Change is coming, live with it. posted by

No, I have not lost it. I'm still here on earth following the news of the world from a variety of real news sources. I do not rely on political blogs or fake news channels for my information. If I want laugh out loud comedy I can always put on talk radio and listen to the hysterical rantings of the comic elite like Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Savage. Only the politically partisan truly believe that this health care reform bill should be defeated, and that all reform from any place that does not call itself the RNC must be stopped. I am so tired of partisan puking for partisan puking sake. Tell me what you want from a health care system in America. This American system costs double what people in other countries pay and covers less people, so do not tell me this is a wonderful system that does not need big fixes. What do you want? I have read the Republican proposal, which is no reform at all and costs the American taxpayer more than this bill that just passed the house and still leaves the same 16% of Americans not insured. If the Republicans or the Libertarians or the little green men from Mars had a better plan I would be all for it. But, I have not seen that plan.

Only the politically partisan truly believe that this health care reform bill should be defeated Oh. So uh, those 39 Democrats that voted no were being politically partisan? The facts seem to suggest that the no votes were quite a bit more bipartisan than the yes votes. But then, you haven't been one to let facts get in the way of what you want to believe. posted by

Adam, USPS - when was the last time their P&L was in the black? What private company would continue to exist to this day after years of deficit (other than US government)? I agree that they do a great job delivering mail, but at what cost? How is it that they continue to operate in red year after year? Does UPS, FedEx, DHL or any other carrier require government subsidy? As a customer, USPS seems to be doing great as your mail shows up everyday. But, are you happy as a tax payer on their performance? Search USPS Financial and you'll see nothing but stories on mismanagement. Here are two for example. http://www.usps.com/financi... http://www.gao.gov/products... Any other government organization reverberates same mismanagement, layers of bureaucracy, inefficiency and out of sight cost of business. So, how is it that we are now trusting government with health care which some speculate that it makes up close to 20% of US economy? If you think the government is more trustworthy than a private corporation driven by customer demand, you really ought to move to another country. Government may talk like they're in your corner, but the truth is they are only watching out for them selves - this you can believe whether you're a republican or a democrat. posted by

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are very well run government entities. Maybe health care can be run like those two organizations...
