The Last Anchrorite
A friend gave me a lead into these this documentary done about the Coptic monastics and in particular a anchorite. An anchorite means a hermit or recluse. This is an experienced spiritual warrior who draws completely away from worldly distractions to devote himself to prayer for all of creation. This is a dangerous path and only a very few very, spiritually experienced monks are blessed to this vocation. One of the founders of Christian monastic life, St. Anthony the Great lead such his life and his biography by St. Athasius is one of the classics of Western spiritual literature.
