Welcome to the new Sound Off blog
Welcome to the new version of our Bakersfield.com blogs.

As you can tell, there are some big changes. We have moved from our original blog provider, Typepad. Now we are running our blogs on our own system, the same one we use for our user profiles and blogs.

So what does this mean for our loyal blog readers? Well, a couple things.

First off, to comment on our new blogs you need to be registered with Bakersfield.com. You don’t have to have your name attached with your posts. You can choose to post anonymously. But you have to be registered. You can sign up here. Curious about what we use the info for? Here is our privacy page.

Don’t want your real name used? No problem. You can pick an online handle. And others will be prevented from masquerading as you.

FYI, If you just want to read the blogs, you do not have to be registered.

So what does the new blog system offer? Well you can customize your comments a lot more than before. You can add links, images, even tables.

And if you want to start your own blog to share your opinions, you can do that too.

Got ideas or comments on our new blogs? Feel free to leave a comment or send me an e-mail.

Bring back typepad. At least it didn't cut off any of my posts.
I hate this new format.

I just wanted to make a few observations...first is about a car accident that just happened that killed either 4 or 5 young girls and the cause was texting while driving, we allow commericals like verison to show parents telling their kids it's more important to text then anything else, free phone give aways and if you don't own a cell phone and use it from dawn to dusk then your not in the in crowd and then we wonder why so many accidents happen, then we have a young girl throw her newborn baby in a trash can and this isn't the first time this has happened it happens all the time and why is that well because we let the media show things like if you use tag body spray the girls are gonna be all over you and the girls must believe it as well, ad's for all kinds of things have a sex based motive to it...like bryers icecream "what joe doesn't know won't hurt him" as she drools over an ice cream container with legs cleaning her pool, and a local truck dealer if you don't have a truck with big wheels that sits 10 feet off the ground your not cool and won't get the girls....please....most shows coming out now deal with sex, drugs or violence or sometime all three and these are the new family shows and we wonder why the divorce rate is up the drug scene is running rampet and why violence is just a way of life these days. Playstations advertise games that show kids and others how to run from the cops, rob banks, kill, and get away with anything they want...I miss the old fashion values i was rasied with and my kids were raised with, I am 49 and am ashamed of what the media has turned into, and people need to stop wondering why things are so bad when no one even tries to stop the media from turning out the trash they are well spewing out as fast as the public can suck it in.....these are just my thoughts but someone needs to take a stand...hopefully i'm not alone in these thoughts
