The 10th Anniversary of Princess Diana's death
Today is the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

I'm not a big follower of British Royalty.

For one thing, most of them aren't all that attractive.

But Diana was attractive and therefore worthy of more than a glance. In my limited knowledge of her, she seemed like a really good person who got stuck marrying a dufus.

I am posting this blog to honor her memory.

Being half Lymie, I follow the course of old English history.  No one, in England, to this day, has commanded presence like Diana.

I was way over this story nine years, 364 days ago. Will it never go away?

Yes, Robb, it will go away; the same day that Mor furniture makes you pay for furniture before it gets out the door.

Of course, those of us who cared remember where we were when we heard Diana had died. I was camping on the shores of Lake Ontario. I can remember sitting on a bluff just after sundown, drinking wine, looking over the water and crying. It wasn't that she was the perfect person....it was that she did try to be a good person.

IMHO, anyway.

Plus, she WAS so iconic, whether you liked her or not.

I was driving to pick up a pizza from Bella Roma's in the Bay Area

The one thing that I did notice yesterday on the tributes about her was what a wonderful mother she must have been.  Her boys have grown up to be such great young men.  She has left her mark in history.  Not everyone cares or cared about Diana but for others it was the bridge that was needed between the Royals and the average Joe's.  Diana was the Peoples Princess.

Her death will go down as one of those unsolved mystery's like with Jimmy Hoffa's death. Yes we know about the car accident but why did they crash?  Plus it will go down in history as one of those tragic death like John F. Kennedy Jr.  I am not saying that either of these people are like Diana nor was Diana like them but they all have their places in History.

Best thing I liked about Pri Di was her work around the world clearing out land mines.

Perhaps not one of her more well known "charities" or activities, but one that I can really appreciate.

One of my brothers hit a land mine, another one just hit one with his APC. Both in Nam.

I, OTOH set many mechanical ambushes for charlie and I wonder about some of them to this day (command detonated claymores and other larger ordnance buried with trip wires of impact detonated) if they are still there or what.

Of course the little VC "kids" would come and turn our claymores around on us so when we detonated them those 180 or so steel balls would come flying at ...... US!

Nonetheless, I would hate to think I caused some little kid to lose a leg
