Are you procrastinating on holiday shopping?
Six days to go until Christmas and I admit, I've only purchased two gifts and some stocking stuffers. I'm exactly the consumer that retailers are frustrated with right now -- I didn't fall for their big early sales, I have the smallest budget for gifts in years, and I'm waiting until the last minute to finish my shopping.
Read an AP story about how this may affect retailers. Luckily, some stores will make a final push for my business in the next few days, according to the story: "Now stores are trying to do the same with the season's finale, offering marathon hours and other come-ons." "Some are pulling all-nighters. Several Macy's Inc.'s stores in the New York metropolitan area, including its flagship, will open Friday at 7 a.m. and won't close until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Kmart, operated by Sears Holdings Corp., will open for 64 hours straight beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday and closing at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24. The holiday 2002 season was the only other time that Kmart pulled an all-nighter." So is your holiday shopping done, or are you waiting until the Eve too?— Jennifer Baldwin, Californian contributions editor 1 comments from 1 users

Jennifer...Thanks for the write up last Saturday. Great job. I'm not doing much til the weekend..not by choice but the flu bug got me on a day I would normally done a little shopping then I work late two days and a Christmas dinner (work). All of which are keeping me from shopping. As I stated before, most of my shopping will be at the bank for cash or a few gift cards. I have two people I want to buy gifts for and that's it. Voila' Most of my time will be spent baking cookies and making fudge. I have 3 kinds to make and, if I can sqeeze it in, a couple of batches of divinity. Mark (motopoet) demands old fashioned cocoa fudge. Grandson Blaine developed a liking for Velveeta fudge. And I like a little of the marshmellow fudge. That one may get dropped infavor of divinity though. Poor daughter Deb....she'll miss her fudge this year since she's spending the holidays in AR. Guess I'll have to make a later batch for her. I have 11 days off IN A ROW so will be annoying the stuffing (no pun intended) out of all you daytime bloggers.
