Ted Turner: World needs limit on number of kids

When Ted Turner speaks, it's a good idea to listen.

Saying that global warming could lead to canibalism, the CNN founder and environmentalist said it would be a good idea for the world's people to limit themselves to one or two children.

Fair point Ted.

Read Turner's interview with PBS's Charlie Rose here.

Turner also believes that CNN has gotten away from serious news coverage and now prefers lighter stories delivered by attractive female "chickies."

Easy Ted.

It wouldn't matter who said it, the point regarding people breeding like animals with no thought of a future for the resulting children can  be seen here in America and throughout the world. But here in America people claim "reproductive rights" to be paid for by taxpayers exorted to pay for children without a future, the resulting breakdown of inner city schools and increasing violence only emphasizing the result of the failure of "parents" to take responsibility for children and letting the "government" worry about them.

Big Ted also said we would all become cannibals

shades of  "Lucifer's Hammer", eh?

Last night Dennis Miller was denigrating Ted's Buffalo Meat.

Hey! That may be the only good thing the dude has to peddle. Buffalo meat is high protein, low fat....... Can be a bit tough, but good for you!

He's buyin up ranch land all over the place. His neighbros hate hm (at least in Montanny)!!

Wouldn't wanna be one of his cowboys though. Them buffalo are mean!

Unfortunately, the less education a woman has, the more kids she's likely to pop out. Some actually think that having a whole passel of kids makes them "somebody." Nope. Just a nobody with a whole passel of kids.

Mattel should market a "Palmquist Doll." It was sterilized after the first child.

Alan Colmes asked Sean Hannity last night if a liberal would be more tender to eat than a conservative.

Nature has a way of imposing birth control. Over breeding affects the food chain, the population is balanced. Famine in Africa certainly is birth control. Can't say I can think of incidents of cannabalism, genocide comes to mind.

Before China became an economic power, the "one couple, one child" policy was enforced. Someone realized economic expansion and stability would not come until population growth was controled.

A family member of mine was on welfare there in Bakersfield from her 18th birthday till she was 39 or 40..5 kids later... she has 3 girls (all on welfare) each girl is not married and has 2 kids of their own and then there's her 11 year old who she passes off on her oldest girl cause she's too busy shacking up with disgusting men who will feed her.

It is a cycle and popping out kids is sad for everyone because it's tax that pays for them and the tons of deadbeat kids they have...

Ted Turner is a nobody but he is right about limiting kids.

Here's a story that appeared on Yahoo from Reuters today concerning the staggering numbers of substantiated child abuse for the year 2006. I'd say having less kids would be a good idea.

By Will Dunham Thu Apr 3, 1:56 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 90,000 babies were physically abused or neglected and about 500 were killed in the United States in 2006, health officials said on Thursday.

Physical abuse included beating, kicking, biting, burning and shaking, and neglect included abandonment, maternal drug use or failing to meet basic needs like housing, food, clothing and access to medical care, according to the report -- the first by the U.S. government focusing on maltreatment in the first year of life.

They are particularly troubling because children who suffer such abuse tend to go on to have numerous health and other problems, officials said.

"The findings do demonstrate a clear pattern of early neglect and physical abuse that is largely preventable," Ileana Arias, who heads injury prevention efforts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told reporters.

Based on data from child protection agencies in 45 states, the report said 91,278 children up to age 1 -- 23.2 per 1,000 infants -- suffered substantiated maltreatment in fiscal 2006, which ran from October 1, 2005, to September 30, 2006.

Of these, 29,881 were maltreated before they were one week old -- primarily during their first four days, the CDC said. Most cases were reported by medical personnel. Thirteen percent of those week-old babies had been subjected to physical abuse.

"One hypothesis for the concentration of maltreatment and neglect reports in the first few days of life is that the majority of reports resulted from maternal or newborn drug tests," the CDC report said.

The report said 905,000 U.S. children of all ages were victims of maltreatment substantiated by government agencies during the 12 months studied.

"Kids who are being maltreated show problems in brain development that then, unfortunately, set a trajectory of a number of negative outcomes including health outcomes," Arias said.

Joan Ohl of the government's Administration for Children and Families said 499 babies under age 1 were killed in maltreatment cases in 2006. Maltreatment is the third leading cause of death of U.S. children under 3, Arias said.

CDC epidemiologist Rebecca Leeb said most similar previous research has focused on children from birth to age 3. Because this is the first data of its kind, it is not possible to know whether these cases are increasing or decreasing in this age group, she said.

"We looked at some rates in Canada and it looks like the rates are fairly similar to what they're seeing. But we have no idea what the trends are at this time," Leeb added.

Slightly more boys than girls were victims. The CDC report did not provide rates among racial or ethnic groups.

if only Ted's parents held that same view.......

posted by randomfactor on Apr 3, 2008 at 03:15 PM

Perhaps they did, witbee.  Turner *DID* have a sister, who died at an early age due to a painful, lingering illness.  I can't find mention of any other siblings.

posted by randomfactor on Apr 3, 2008 at 03:17 PM

Of course, he *DID* have five kids...

In a way I hope the biggest dope - Ted Turner - is right. We do have armageddon. I welcome it. I can be about as self sufficient as a person can be in this world. And I'll just do it. Just don't come asking me for food, water, fuel if your one of the dumb Dems that cuased it.

There were incidents of cannibalism in the Stalin era Soviet Union during a famine of food shortages. While the people of North America and Europe die  from overeating, Africa, India, N. Korea, Mexico, South America, and until recently, China are familiar with malnutrition or starvation.

The most objective doomsday prediction I've heard from climate change is mass relocation. The polar ice is melting and polar bears are at risk of becoming extinct. Either the bears will retreat to the tree line and become something else or they will become extinct white bears.

New Orleans is below sea level. 50% of our population live within 50 miles of an ocean. Rising sea levels and changing seasonal weather patterns will shift populations. There's no argument New Orleans' population got shifted. Most record setting temp. extremes have occurred within the last decade. For us, another Katrina would be a major upheaval. For underdeveloped backward countries with increasing baby-making, we're talking Armageddon.

Whether a diabolical plot or not, the era of a "free lunch" for unproductive mouths simply cannot have some Utopian outcome in America or anywhere else in the world.

Can mass relocation really be that bad catpaw?

posted by catpaw on Apr 4, 2008 at 07:59 AM

Point I was making, Chico, is good or bad depends on who's on the receiving end. Tumultuous change seems to be less of a likelihood and more of an inevitability. That's nothing new for our planet, it just hasn't involved so darn many people until now.

You're right, Chico.  The relocation of Mexican workers north across the border has been largely beneficial, for example.
