How are you celebrating Earth Day?

Today is Earth Day.

I recently signed up for the blue recycling trash can (for a whopping $4 a month) and I planted some vegetables and I'm trying to keep them organic. I also stopped brushing my teeth with the tap running.

Mind you, I drive a car with awful gas mileage, and I live a mile from work and I haven't cycled in in about a year.

It's a constant battle for me, but I am trying.

It's Earth Day and it's a good a time as any to change one aspect of your life.

I have a 1970 Ford Maverick with 300,000 miles on it idling in the driveway. This will continue until the sun goes down. My neighbors are loading up on chorizo for their "Earth Day Flatulence Festival," which begins at noon.

Ah, JBS, I had a '70 Maverick with 3 on the tree.  It was red with red plaid interior.  Great car.  Great memories.  I went shopping and to lunch with a friend today.  Both our homes were left with all extras off and we tooled around town in her little car combining errands.  Then we had lunch at Cafe Med.  Great Earth Day.

Mine also had the three on the tree; I learned to reach through the steering wheel and shift with my left arm while my right arm was around a girl. Mine was gold with a gold plaid interior. Lost my virginity in the back seat of that sucker.

Wow.  That's classy.

I actually am looking to buy a bike for Earth Day.  I'd hoped to have it by now but didn't quite make it.  If I'm going someplace within a mile, I walk.  If I'm going someplace on a main line I'll take public transit.  I still take my truck more than I'd like and wpuld love to have a bike for the mid-distance, pick-up-a-couple-things trips.
