Get high before you fly
A pro-marijuana group wants the government to allow passengers to smoke pot in airport smoking lounges before they board their plane. The group says it will cut down on rowdy passengers who drink alcohol before flying. It will also make those nasty airline snacks and meals that much more palatable.

Now if the airlines would just *SELL* them the cannabis, they might not have to put baggage surcharges on. . Alternately, let's have a Dutch company set up a smoking lounge inside the duty-free shop. They consider that international territory anyway, don't they? :) posted by

They claim that pot helps people to relax better than booze, but it depends on the person. I had a roommate years ago who would smoke a couple of pipefuls of the stuff before going to bed because it relaxed him, but the stuff had the opposite effect on me. I tried pot about a dozen times before it finally struck me one day that, "I don't like this stuff." I get extremely edgy and irritable when I smoke that stuff, which is why I haven't done so since 1987. I can't even sit in the same room when someone is smoking it, because the second-hand smoke gets me. Booze has different effects on different people; some people become friendly when they drink, others want to fight. Pot is the same way. Since I don't drink anymore, I now get my relaxation and inner solace from tormenting some poor soul on an internet forum somewhere... posted by

Then again, you'd wind up getting the entire lounge high through 2nd hand smoke.. You say that like it's a bad thing... posted by

The fall of the Roman Empire was caused by second-hand doobie smoke. You say *THAT* like it's a bad thing. If the Empire hadn't fallen, we'd all be speaking Latin today. Spam code YVYVY. Doesn't mean anything but it looks purty. posted by

if they allowed this think how much money the airlines would make from people who have the munchies. There would no longer be people getting into fights..since most would have the giggles.
