'Montauk Monster' mystery deepens

Check out this Newsday story on the strange-looking beast which washed ashore in Long Island recently.

And Gawker has all kinds of stuff on the bloated blob, including links to an interview with the women who found the monster.

How many ways can you spell F A K E.     f r a u d   s h a m   p h o n y  c o u n t e r f e i t

It doesn't look any more real today than it did on yesterdays blog.

BTW

Why is there only one picture of this thing?   If you found it wouldn't you take dozens of pictures.   Wouldn't you turn the thing over and take pictures of that side too.  Wouldn't you pose next to it to show ownership and bragging rights?

I wouldn't touch it.....But Yes, take lots of pictures. Doesn't look like a monster.

Same guy? Different shot? Still, to be real, it should have something in shot for reference (size, etc.)

 What's not to believe!

Well, now we know it had fur and is a male animal, but still, nothing for size reference and no body for the scientists to test. So it's either an elaborate hoax or just another dead animal that was in the water long enough for bloating and decay to distort its features. It's not a monster or a cryptid. This reminds me of when a dead white sturgeon washed up on the shore of some football player's home and people were calling it an armoured monster until someone pointed out what it was.

There's a fly on its back; not much for a size reference but it's something.

Looks like a wild Boar to me.  I've been hunting them for years.  Probably a subspecies from another continent that was thrown overboard.
