SAVE! Syrup, syrup and more syrup. :)
Syrup, syrup and more syrup. :) I am known as the dipper :) Well this sounds a bit funny, but not at all funny when you think about it, as I did some years back.. While eating in a Cafe one Morning, enjoying my pancakes, a nice Lady sitting next to me told me a great secret for enjoying my pancakes (or any type of food that uses Syrup) even more... Have the syrup brought in a Monkey dish (small bowl) so it can be used for dipping each bite into fresh syrup, this way the cake stays light and fluffy and the syrup flavor is even better... No soaking up all that syrup into the cake or Waffle or French toast.. The best part about this is, I only used maybe 1 on those small containers of syrup, not the usual 3 or 4 as I had always added more as I went along, because the syrup just went away (soaked into the cake) so to get that syrup flavor back, I just added more on top of that whole soggy mess.
Doing it this way saves from using sooooo much syrup, and a way better taste/flavor all around.
All the other Folks I have turned on to this over the years really Thank me after they too tried it, takes a bit more time, but the time is worth the added flavor... not to mention the weight one can either lose or not gain.. :) hehe

Sounds like a good idea. I've learned to keep the syrup close at hand and pour a little at a time. posted by

tedabrown: With a fork I punch holes in my pancakes, then slowly pour the syrup over them. I use speared pieces of pancake to sop up what dripped along the side. Then I may have to repeat the process. May. Ha! There's no "correct" way to eat pancakes, is there? posted by

Not unless you're gross enough to eat "pigs in a blanket." Maple syrup over meat sounds (and looks) barfable to me. I'm either eating pancakes or I'm eating sausage links. Together is "yeech." : ) posted by

Make my pancakes with Whole Wheat Flour and use sugar free syrup. Tastes good and since I have switched to whole wheat bread, buns, spaghetti and macaroni I have lost 16 pounds. Good weight loss with few diet changes.

I love the contrast of sweet and salty so pigs in a blanket are GREAT! I usually order a "Pancake Sandwich" which is not a sandwich at all but rater a couple of eggs, a couple of pancakes and a couple of pieces of bacon or sausage. Carrows is running one for 3.99 RIGHT NOW ! What are you waiting for??? edit..a good example is an order of french toast stick at a fast food. You get your syrup warmed in a little container. to pour into. Ted, great idea about the monkey dish. If the syrup is already on the table just ask for a separate bowl. posted by
