tkozy - > There is a Chance -> Republican Rep. Bob Allen was arrested for soliciting a male undercover police
Republican Rep. Bob Allen was arrested for soliciting a male undercover police

Republican Rep. Bob Allen of Merritt Island, whose district includes a large swath of east Orange County, was arrested for soliciting a male undercover police officer for sex in a Titusville park restroom.

Allen was considered to be acting suspicious by police as he entered and exited the men's room three times, according to a Titusville Police report. Moments later, he approached the plainclothes officer and offered to perform oral sex for $20, police said.

Allen faces second degree misdemeanor charges. A seven-year House veteran, the term-limited Allen had been considered a likely Senate candidate next year. He also had been named a co-chairman last spring of Arizona Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign team in Florida.

Police said they realized Allen was a public figure after the arrest.

HIS EXCUSE?

HE TOLD COPS THE PARK WAS FULL OF BIG BLACK GUYS, AND WAS AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE.

Allen has sponsored many indecency laws. In addition to being a hypocrite. It appears he is also a racist bigot.

To quote Random .....

Aren't there *ANY* straight, non-deviant Republican leaders?

I would have though the left would have held him in their compassionate arms and told him it was OK.  They wouldn't hold his sexual orientation against him, would they?  Also, he is innocent until proven guilty.  I know of a few cops who  have padded their reports in order to reach a quota in order to qualify for grant money to keep certain programs going.  Him saying the park was full of big black guys isn't bigoted at all, it was truthful probably.  Go down on Lakeview or Cottonwood Rd. to a park bathroom and after you get your ass kicked or worse explain to the law who did it without using racial terms. Wonder if it wasn't a hit by the left wing wackos.  If so, good work, effective, sleazy but right up their alley. Late, sorry.

ah the name calling begins~gay is cool by me,but when you talk out of one side of your mouth and then the other side I think it is called hypocrisy. But your right lets allow the law to take it's course before we..or you...call names and make accusations.

What if his constituents want indecency laws?? I thought he was supposed to represent his constituency??
Are you suggesting that we should strike down laws in which it is illegal to perform oral sex in a public place??
posted by anglo1 on Aug 7, 2007 at 10:11 PM

Too vague for me Sage, I'm saying he is innocent, now, the left by their own waling's should come to his defense if he is charged with these crimes. And, cops can do politically swayed reporting and arresting in  the line of duty.  The left wing wackos was for fun, in response to the common right wing nut job.  I apologize.  If that was the offense.

posted by NancyII on Aug 7, 2007 at 10:20 PM

If he had said 4 BIG white guys would you have said bigoted?  Since when did descriptive become bigotry?

posted by NancyII on Aug 7, 2007 at 10:24 PM
By the way..I don't care if he was gay or straight, soliciting ANYONE is scummy.  And then again, if he was charging 20 bucks, maybe representatives don't make enough money.

Very good Nancy.  You can still find the head of the nail.

Thanks for posting the link to the story Tkozy.  I think the guy should resign, just like any other elected official who offers or demands oral sex from someone in a public place, whether it be a restroom, or perhaps a federal office with no corners.....   http://news.yahoo.com/s/po/...

But it was interesting reading the report.  It said the police were investigating a burglary of a condo.   They saw a saw a "disheveled, unshaven man enter and leave the park restroom three times" and became suspicious.  Suspicous of what?? That this may be the burgler and he was stealing toilet paper??  That  perhaps the Flomax finally kicked in and maybe Allen needed some assistance with his nozzle??  So they send in a big black plain clothed police officer, Kavanaugh.  But not to go in and find out if Allen perhaps has any information on the burglary.  They send him in to drop the kids off at the pool.  For some reason, apparently the cop has to dry his hands in the stall.  Not quite sure what Kavanaugh was doing in the stall that he needed to dry his hands, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was working hard on finding the burgler.    I don't know about you, but if I am looking for a burgler, I don't go to public restroom where a strange guy is hanging out and pretend to give birth to another Democrat on the porcelin throne.   Allen peeks over the stall not once, but twice, then joins Kavanaugh in the stall.

At any point did Kavanaugh ever ask Allen if he knew anything about a burglary?  I mean, that is what he was in their for right, to solve the burglery caper??  After all, we know darn well that most burglary suspects are disheveled men with large prostates that have to go to the bathroom often.  I wonder, was there a description of the burglar from which to focus the police search?  Or did they just assume that a disheveled man who kept going to the bathroom was a likely suspect?

Also, since when was it standard practice to investigate a burlary by sending in a plain clothes officers to a public bathroom?? If you thought a guy was a suspect in a burglary, wouldn't you want to go in their with your weapon drawn, just in case the burglar was armed??

I wonder if they ever caught the burgler.?

Too bad Allen isn't black and the officer white.  He would be looking at a multi million dollar lawsuit paid for  by the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus.

Not even amazing any more is it? Sad.  But we all know there is no limit to how low they will go to ruin someones life.

"effective, sleazy but right up their alley" thats what i felt was name calling~I apologize if I mistook your remark anglo1.Thats all I was addressing~anything else is something they want to see.Of course he is considered innocent until proved guilty I was not suggesting otherwise. It is slimy ,if he did it,I do not care about color, sex or height for that matter. As for resigning~ no.BJ's do not qualify for  resignation. His constituents will have the chance to call for that,or vote him out of office.I wish these guys would get smarter thats all~our government should be run by folks who know how to find release without getting busted~ hat goes fro any and all party's..

If I'm fearing big black guys, I don't peer into their toilet stall twice before joining them there and striking up a conversation about oral sex. That's just me though.

I don't think Allen is innocent. I think he's full of it.

Allen=Duh

What a freaking idiot Allen is...he was fearing the big ole African American man, after he, Allen walk in/out of the restroom 3 times in a row..then offers $20 to the big ole mean African American so he can blow the big ole mean African American...just does not add up.

Allen has always talked about family values and has been so anit-gay...must be self hate!

I don't think Allen is innocent, never said that. I also don't think the police are telling the truth.  Like I said, If Allen were black and the cop white, he would be looking at a couple million dollars.  He was simply a target of opportunity for the police.

If I'm looking for a burglery suspect, I don't go to a bathroom stall and "dry my hands"...

I wonder how that burglery investigation is going.

posted by ronmexico on Aug 8, 2007 at 06:54 AM
Hmm..Maybe the police should go to Boston and start looking for the burglery suspect in a downtown gay bar. They could just look for a guy going to the bathroom 3 times, saddle up to them at the bar when he gets back, then slap the cuffs on him and make a note in the police report that the guy made an offer for a $20 blow job.  Case solved!!!  WOw, crime fighting has never been so easy...

I guess I am on the other side. It just amazes me how people on this blog automatically go to the defense on simeone arrested. It also amazes me that so many people are agaist police and law enforcement however if someone is breaking into your house at 3:00 am or your mother or sister has been raped and beaten or your child molested at his/her school who is the first person you call? POLICE!!!!!! If he were arrested for molesting a child in that restroom and that child was yours would you still feel he's innocent and that the POLICE were acting wrong?  I don't think so. Sounds like the guy is a scum bag and finally got caught. And yes is I were looking for a burglary suspect and the area contained a park sometime you "watch" areas as people move through them. If you were a burglar would you run from the scene and keep running? NO you would leave, maybe hide and see if the police showed up. Then WALK as not to draw attention to your self.....

Oh really Steve?? I guess you didn't read the link that Tkozy didn't bother supplying, but I did..Here it is...

Titusville police told the Sentinel that they were investigating a nearby condo burglary when they saw a disheveled, unshaven man enter and leave the park restroom three times. They decided to send in Officer Danny Kavanaugh.

In a statement, Kavanaugh said he was drying his hands in a stall when Allen peered -- twice -- over the stall door, then joined Kavanaugh inside.

"This is kind of a public place," isn't it?" the Sentinel quoted Allen as saying; he then suggested "going across the bridge; it's quieter over there."

Like I said earlier.  A target of opportunity.  I have no problem with police arresting gay guys trying to get some in public.  But at least make up a better story than that...
posted by sfinboston52 on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:09 AM

it really is a victimless crime, is it sleazy oh yes!!!! Should it be a crime? who knows...but the matter of fact is the Allen held himself up as a "family values" type man and has a strong record of attacking the civil rights of americans who are gay. Allen is a hypocrit and a scum bag.

posted by ronmexico on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:09 AM
SO if you burglarized a condo, you would go to the public park with your loot and go in and out of a public bathroom?? You wouldn't get into your car and drive away at a legal speed??  I did not know that burglars hung out at public bathrooms. Next time by house is burglarized I will insist that the cops head on down to Beale park and make some arrests..

Glenn Murphy, Jr., the recently elected chairman of the Young Republican National Federation (also the RNC Chair for Clark County, Indiana and formerly the YRNF Secretary) has been accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping man. Immediately following the accusation, he came up with an unrelated reason to resign, and the YRNF cleansed their website of his name.

Allegedly, Murphy and another YR were drunk and crashing at Murphy's sister's house. The other man apparently awoke in the morning to find Murphy giving him a non-consensual blow job. The Clark County (Indiana) Sheriff's Department is charging Murphy with "criminal deviate conduct", a Class B felony.

Taking Down Words, an Indiana blog, has been following this guy for some time. And guess what? Apparently this isn't the first time his mouth has ended up on someone's privates while they were asleep. Glenn Murphy has a prior arrest for sexual battery. Here's the 1998 Clark County police report. A snippet, for your entertainment.

I have no problem with the vice squad doing their job, against straight and gay..  I kinda get a little uneasy when burglary detectives start taking out targets of opportunity..

If Allens constituency is made up of family values folk, then he damn well better be pushing the family values agenda in his work life.  What he does in his private life is up to him, unless it becomes and issue with his constitutents..  That doesn't make him a hypocrite, unless of course you think it is hypocritical for a gay legislator to represent a straight consitutuency...

Maybe Allen was turning tricks for Barney Frank.  Hey, maybe the police should check Barney Franks condo.  Maybe that is where the burglar is...

RonM, he wasn't demanding oral sex, he was offering it--and offering to pay for delivering it to boot.

.

I think the guy seriously needs a boyfriend.  And a marriage license.  That kind of thing tends to put a limit on your sexual activity.

.

Oh, and a better alibi.  At least the head of the national Young Republicans had a cover story ready as to why *HE* had to resign after "allegedly" sexually assaulting one of his comrades.

posted by randomfactor on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:28 AM

Oh, and please note:  "non-consensual."  That's the key in the YR case.  The Young Republicans male-only, invitation-only sex orgies are fine with me.

.

I suspect Allen's personal life and his private one are about to collide violently, RonM.

.

And I think it is hypocritical for a gay man to represent a straight constituency, pretending to oppose such behavior while indulging therin.

Maybe he could work for Barney Frank, Democratic Congressman, as a "special" advisor.  I hear Barney has some spare space in his Washington condo.  And the pay seems to be much better than the going rate in a public bathroom in Florida..

I don't think their politics would mix well, RonM.   Frank's a Democrat, while Allen is a hypocrite.
posted by ronmexico on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:41 AM

You mean the Barney Frank that is a Democrat hypocrite who runs a gay whore house out of his goverment paid for condo on the side?  Or ar you talking about some other Democrat?

...I think Allen might be able to look past that bit of hypocrisy and possibly get a job with Frank.  Dems are always preaching diversity, ya know.  Frank could add a Republcan to his stable of highly paid c*cks*ck@r$...

posted by randomfactor on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:44 AM

Did Barney Frank rise to power by campaigning *AGAINST* homosexuality, RonM?  *THAT* would be hypocrisy.  You keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means.

.

And once again, I don't think Frank (or Bill Clinton, since you inevitably had to involve the Clenis in this thread) has to pay for it.  Unlike Allen.  How *BAD* do you have to be at sex that you have to *PAY* people to accept your "favors"?

posted by ronmexico on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:48 AM
how do you know Clinton and Frank never paid for it?? you have personal experience you want to share??
posted by randomfactor on Aug 8, 2007 at 07:53 AM

Yes, I do, RonM, at least in the case of Clinton.

.

The Starr witchhunt spent $50 million in tax money to ultimately clear Bill Clinton.  Let's spend the same amount and give the same treatment to Shrub, shall we?

Maybe Allen was turning tricks for Barney Frank.  Hey, maybe the police should check Barney Franks condo.  Maybe that is where the burglar is...

Please explain what this has to do with Allen's case.

How often have we seen this? A conservative will start to lose a debate and resort to bringing up something completely unrelated and 20 to 30 years in the past.

This is a lie.

All the parties involved admitted Frank had no knowledge of the activity. It took place when Frank was not in Washington or anywhere near the condo.

Just what are you trying to accomplish here? Bringing up Frank is not helping you defend Allen in any way. In fact, it's doing just the opposite, along with making you look extremely desperate.

I'm still waiting on you to tell us what an openly gay man (Frank) has to do with Allen, a hypocritical gay man.

Am I the only one who can't get passed the fact that they guy wanted to pick up a date in a public bathroom?  Has anyone ever been a in a public men's bathroom?  YUCK!  Right now I feel like who cares what their religious, politcal or sexual affiliation is, I cannot get passed the thought of any type of sex in a nasty public park bathroom. Ugh, *shivers*.  Nasty.  I think the focus should be on the serious issue of his inability to know what is appropriate and when.  I can't imagine where else his bad habits have carried over.  Things that make you go HMMM....

No, thankfully.  I don't even remember the last time I was at Beach Park.  But if I needed a bathroom and that was all there was I would do what I had to do.  But, I can think of a million other places for a sexual rendezvous instead of a bathroom.
