vwilroy - > Week in Review -> Address Theft? Help!!
Address Theft? Help!!

During the past week I have received several pieces of mail addressed to an unknown person.

A quote for insurance (traced phone number and it was to another person)
A return bag to send in my unwanted gold
A letter from a dealer that this person was interested in a new car (gave bogus email address)
An information packet to Walden University

All of these are addressed to Pedro Colon.  Any ideas as to why someone would do this?  It worries me.

Vickie -

Is this e-Mail or real-Mail?

I have received similar items in my street-side mailbox that makes me think there is an illegal alien utilizing services and putting my home address on the record as theirs.    Makes me wonder WTF is going on!

This is real mail.

I got a Ford recall notice in my mailbox for someone I've never heard of.  I thought that was odd since buying a car would require a current address.  Make me wonder how long ago he bought that car and if he really lived here at the time.

Hope whatever it was for didn't break on him.

Mark the mail "not at address" and give it back to the postal worker the next day (or leave it on your mailbox). Could just be someone who lived there years ago. I still get mail at my address for the old gentleman who used to live here and died over a decade ago. It's just because marketting folks don't bother to update their lists. If you don't return mail to them as undeliverable, they won't even know they need to update their lists.

No explanation.  Not a previous owner.  I have been here for almost 5 years.  I know who all the previous owners are.  Could not have been transposed numbers.  Nothing is close if any numbers are reversed.  I live on a street one block long.  The car inquiry was for a new car.  All these letters are based on recent inquires.  Lastly, I have no enemies.  I have few friends.
