Temperatures are expected to reach 104 today.

&amp;bull; Consecutive high temperatures of 105 degrees or greater in Bakersfield 26 days from July 6, 1908 to July 31, 1908. 

&amp;bull; Consecutive high temperatures of 95 degrees or greater in Bakersfield 100 days from June 8, 1908 to Sept. 16, 1908. 

&amp;bull; The earliest 100 degree weather has hit Bakersfield in a year: April 23, 1910. 

TIPS FOR THE HEAT

Never leave children or pets in a vehicle, even for short periods of time

Wear a wide-brimmed hat and loose-fitting, light-colored clothes

Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids

Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during the midday and afternoon. When possible, stay in the shade or an air-conditioned room

Periodically check on children and the elderly
