It's only if you insist on having a bluetooth &quot;earring&quot; that you'll have to pay money. A basic wired headset will run you around $20 and some phones still include earbuds with the phone (although that is rarer these days). As a plus, once you get a universal plug headset, the most you'll need to buy for a new phone is a universal to proprietary adapter if your new phone uses a proprietary jack. You can also use the same headset on your cordless house phone if it also has a universal headset jack, so two uses for the price of one for those who still have a land line. And for those worried about bluetooth causing brain cancer, well you won't have that worry with a wired headset.
