Free 'Forever stamps' - Free Stuff - FreeStuff's Blog - Bakersfield.com

We just had to do a special midweek Free Stuff post in honor of the new 'Forever stamp.'

This is the stamp you will be able to buy to avoid any future stamp price increases. It comes just in time for the latest postage hike, from 39 cents to 41 cents.

Anyway, I don't know how, but we got our hands on a book of 20 of these gems.

You want 'em? Then tell us why in the heck you still need stamps, much less stamps that will last forever.

And the story better be more exciting than "I need to send in my PG&E and cable bills"

As usual, the rules are here. I figure we'll let this run through the end of this week, so get those stories up!

Oh, a few weeks or so ago, I, very lady like, plowed into a dainty mailbox, and the bumper fell off my truck into a gnarled heap across the hot and stinky pavement. I need some sort of freaky good sticky stuff to re-attach my front bumper back to the chassis. I believe that the "Forever Stamp" would be the perfect substance for the job, as I am certain that it is called "Forever Stamp" because the adhesive is highly sooper dooper and lasts forever. An added benefit to attaching the sooper sticky "Forever Stamp" to my ride would be the obvious allure of my truck being "patriotically pimped". What with that sexy liberty bell visage plastered up, down, sideways and askew (my personal favorite) all over the front end, the tired huddled masses will gather about my bumper, yearning to breathe free. The older gentlemen, puffing on their Mattloch- like pipes, will rehash stories of yore about the escapades of Roosevelt and Truman; The women will knit useless red, white and blue stuff, like dash board covers, fancy toilet paper holders and thongs, whilst occasionally weeping in its glory. The children, waving those itty bitty flags, will climb about my bumper and jump up and down on it, bounce house style, and I will not worry about it falling off because of that amazing sooper stickiness marvel named "Forever Stamp" that holds everything in its place. The word will spread and my bumper will unite! Liberals and conservatives will hug and love like Carville and Matalin only it won't be gross, Pepsi will be Clear again, Pez will not only be declared the sixth food group but also a national treasure, the war will end, Jesus will come, and everything will be so friggin' right!

Okay! I still use stamps and buy the forever stamps 50 or 100 at a time. I mail ALL my bills and believe it or not, I still write letters.
I do not have direct deposit because I do not want it and do not use ATM's. I pay my credit cards at the end of the month so never pay interest. I want to keep track of my money and always know to the cent how much I have in my savings and checking accounts. I have never had a check bounce. I guess I am a dinosaur but I like it that way.
