I think its messed up because some homosexuals are born with high hormones>? or less testastorone then others but then again it is choice just like some choose to marry their cousins lol but thats something else. Not everybody grows up in the same environment so i think it is discrimatory but we have to protect the rights from those who choose not to marry homosexuals due to their beliefs. So i guess its up to the people to decide on this issue the sad part is the majority votes YES so the majority wins.

Both sides feel discriminated against----one side for their religious beliefs, or their beliefs that homosexuality is a choice, and one side, for their sexual orientation. It's better not to argue over which side is the bad side. It's best just to quietly vote. We all have our reasons to vote the way we vote. Let's not judge one another for our beliefs concerning this issue.

But passage of the discriminatory Proposition 8 amendment of California's constitution might be best, sending the issue to higher courts where it will ultimately be overturned and such discrimination finally outlawed entirely in this nation.

Samheath, too bad you're revolted by homosexuality, but your personal revulsion is not an issue here. The right - yes, the civil right - of committed couples of any gender to marry will eventually be upheld one way or another, like it or not, because its what's fair and just.

Dgrealish, your "book" is thankfully not the law of the land.

But if law was based on the principles of Jesus, the abridgment of the rights of homosexuals to their personal pursuit of happiness would not be tolerated.

I don't approve of my kids actions all the time, or their lifestyle at times but I don't hate them.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that just because I don't approve of gay marriage it doesn't mean I hate gays? Where DO you get the right to make such an arrogant and erroneous statement? What you DON'T get is the right to tell me how I should feel or think. The pesky little founding fathers paper you guys keep alluding to gives me the right to think and feel any way I choose. It works both ways and you don't get to tell me how I should interpret it or how to live.

I am SO sick of being told I HATE, just because I disagree or disapprove of something. The day you can convince me that if my kids do somethng I don't approve of that I hate them, then maybe what you say will make a little sense. Do you see that happening?

What you seem unable to grasp, Nancy, is that your *OPINION* is not evidence of the hatred, it's your *ACTIONS*. It's perfectly possible to hold an opinion opposing same-sex marriage and *NOT* vote yes on 8, just as you can dislike black people as a group and *NOT* try to keep them out of your restaurant.

There is *NO* unrefuted argument in favor of Proposition 8 that does not spring from prejudice.

None.

I can't say Americans used to be better than that. The history of the US, from the treatment of Native Americans to slavery to Jim Crow laws, says otherwise. But up until this year I honestly thought the American people were growing up. Maybe they just found the last identifiable group it's still socially-acceptable to hate.

Fortunately, neither Nancy's or anyone else's approval or disapproval of another's homosexual lifestyle or their right to the pursuit of happiness through marriage is significant.

Whether people like it or not, the basic underlying fact remains that discriminatory denial of basic human rights is just plain wrong.

The injustice of discrimination simply will not be tolerated in a humane society.

If passed, the measure will be legally challenged and overturned.

Thoughtful, fair minded people have successfully fought the injustice of discrimination in this nation far too long to allow this measure to stand.

You can deny homosexuals entry into your private churches and your homes, but you cannot deprive another citizen of the United States of America the right to enjoy the same privileges as you based on their color, race, creed, sex or sexual preference.

Maybe in another decade or so, homophobes and evangelistic psuedomoralists will finally get it.

I watched one of the newest Yes on 8 commercials last night. The first thing that was said "It interferes with my religious right to choose". How does two consenting adults entering into a LEGAL contract interfere with anyone's religious rights? Marriage is a legal contract, people, not a religious one. The only time religion is called upon in a marriage is if the couple wants their union blessed by the church. NO ON 8.
