Gustav vs Palin

Why do we care more about the fact that Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant at 17 than we do about the people that are in the path of Gustav? Have you watched the news and the plight of the people in Louisiana? We could have another major catastrophe and it seems like all we care about is gossip and mud slinging. New Orleans is still not over Katrina and here we go again.

Joe Cocker & Steve Miller

The Bakersfield Californian had a contest to win tickets to the Joe Cocker and Steve Miller concert. I won two tickets. I normally buy the scalper tickets that get me to the front row but, not this time. I went to our designated seats knowing that I would be moving down to better seats when the time came right. The ticket taker immediately gave us tickets to better seaFts for this event. Not only that, if you read the paper today, they were offering buy one get one free if you took the article to the box office. I have to tell you that the Bakersfield Californian gives the Rabobak Arena a ton of support.
The concert was great and I am sorry if you missed it. I usually go to a concert looking for the tunes that I know. The classics. Steve Miller played most of the songs from his new recordings and I think they were better than the classics. Yes they played the classics but the hit of the evening for me was the Bo Diddly and Ray Charles hits redone. These guys truly have a gift for music. The mix was awesome and so were they. Great concert for us old folks

In Memory of Sarah Foster

Please take this time to remember Sarah Foster. She was a special person that made a difference in this world. In the time of trouble when teens are wondering who and what they are, Sarah knew. She guided her peers and helped them through the times of trouble. She gave the Highland staff a breath of fresh air. You could always count on Sarah to be there. God looked out at her and had a higher mission for her. She is with God guiding the lost souls that needed her more than we did on earth.
God bless her and all that she did in her short time on earth. We love you Sarah. Always in our hears forever.

Teen Violence

If we haven't had enough violence, we now have more. Two people were shot at in an altercation in East Bakersfield, supposedly in the vicinity of a party. I don't think the wounds were anything life threatening. The suspects are teens 16 or 17 years old. I wonder just where do they get these guns? Again, we have to ask "Where and what are the parents?" It's 1:00am in the morning. I think if I had a teenager today I would equip them with a tracking unit.

FSG. The purpose of this post was the information regarding the shootings. Another shooting that most likely will not make the paper. It seems as if you are not killed or critically hurt, it is not a big deal. I feel it is a big deal. TEEN crime in Bakersfield seems to be rapidly increasing. Not to long ago we had a murder commited by five teens.

Two Shootings Tonight

One was in East Bakersfield involving teens. The other just happened at La Corurse (sp) what used to be Hush Puppies, on White Lane and Stine. Two were shot. They think they have the vehicle make and model and suspect that is gang affiliated. What is going on in Bakersfield?

Scanner News

Nine18 are you there. There is a near gang riot with 600 subjects at the Fairgournds. So far, we have a stabbing vicitm and a shooting victum. The event is the Lowrider Nationals. I and my neighbors wanted to go but, we were afraid of this.

The Troll

Does anybody besides me think that hm (HusbandMaterial) is a troll? If so does anyone care. This guy just makes me gag. Not because he is gay, that is not even an issue. I have lots of gay friends. He is just out there somewhere and does not even read the posts correctly. I think he need to go. what do you think. HM, please don't post a response. They go on and on and on and on and don't make sense.

Do You Recycle?

Last night's blog from the girl that wanted to breed a mutt put me right over the edge. It truly shows the ignorance of people when it comes to responsible pet ownership. I have an idea. Do you recycle. I do only for the fact that it might play a small part in saving our earth for future generations. When I cash out the bottles and cans, I give the money to the neighbors to buy more beverages. Why not take the money from recycling and donate it to the SPCA or the latest "Pennies Not Pups" campaign. I could make a difference even in today's tough times. If the price of gas is an issue, I would gladly pick up your recycle items (cans and bottles) and donate it to the unwanted animals.

Don't Drink and Walk

It can be just as dangerous as drinking and driving. The only difference is that you will get killed not you will kill somebody else

This article was very well written and informative. Just want the public needs to know. The excuses these parents made were laughable. At the wrong place at the wrong times must mean he should not have been caught. He’s a good kid must mean he did his chores before going out to commit crimes.

As mentioned in the article Wardick's father was a probable gang member and a drug offender many times over. If you check the court records you will see that his father was also. Three generations of criminals. That evidence speaks for itself. How do we break this cycle?
