I have been going to Cafe Med for the past 5 years and have to say that I still enjoy going there with my friends and family to have a nice meal in a calming environment. From a customers perspective, Mehr and Kathy (owners) are great people who are definitely involved with their business. Everyday they are there greeting their customers and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Cafe Med definitely has authentic Mediterranean food that has great taste to match their prices.

We've been eating at Cafe Med since they first opened in the northeast 20 years ago. Usually we love the food. But things have gone downhill in the past few years. DON'T go on a special holiday like Mother's Day. They overbook the reservations, they don't have enough waiters, and they run out of food on the buffet.
We went for our anniversary (not having been there since the year before) and were very disappointed. They gave us a dirty water glass and when my husband complained the waiter got another one. However, the guy didn't even check to make sure the new one was clean. It wasn't. It took awhile to track him down again for a new glass.
The place is really due for a complete makeover and a good cleaning. It smells like old food... you know, that grease/grime smell. I wonder when they last steam-cleaned the carpets....

Try the stuffed grape leaves (dolmades). This place is a little spendy but has great atmosphere and great food if you are ready for something different.

The food was great, but expensive. We spend $150 at lunch for 6 people (no appetizer, alcohol, or desserts; just our entrees).
But, the one-star rating comes mostly from the visitors that were there that day: cockroaches. A cockroach crawled across my wife's lap, she flung it across the room, stood up, and stomped on it. We called the manager over and told him. He simply said "thanks for letting me know" and walked away. He didn't even clean it up.
We were expecting free dessert or something, but nothing. When we paid the bill, we reminded the manager that the cockroach was still there and we didn't want it to offend any other guests coming in (we were in the side room behind the bar by ourselves). His response, "Oh yeah, I haven't forgotten. I'm going to clean it up as soon as you leave."
Does this make sense to anyone? Cafe Med is one of the few restaurants in town that didn't receive an "A" rating from the health department. Even after paying a retesting fee, they received another "B." But besides that, they should have at the very least cleaned the cockroach carcass off the floor; a comped meal or dessert would have been a nice touch.
