as a recent transplant to Kern County (almost 4 years ago, Glennville), i'm in Bakersfield at least a couple of times/week for clients or such errands as gasoline, groceries, hardware, feed, etc.  only discovered Cafe Med just a few months ago and now am there for lunch on a near weekly basis.  now sort of plan that day so that i'm nearby for lunch.

the staff is among the best of any of the finest restaurants in the world where i have been lucky to enjoy a fine meal.  the menu is huge, eclectic, unusual, and the scope is outrageous.  the preparation and presentation of the food is wonderful. 

really didn't know just what to expect of Bakersfield when we made the decision to move from the big cities to Glennville, and Bakersfield was the closest destination at an hour's drive.  from many year's of experience, would name Cafe Med as a world-class restaurant in a surprising location. 

there's an old expression (source unknown to me):  "God willing and the creek don't rise", i'll be there for lunch again next week, and the week after...

I've always liked Cafe Med, it is one of Bakersfield's most unique restaurants.  However, the last time my wife and I dined there, we left feeling somewhat disappointed.  The food, of course, was very good.  It was due to the younger  inexperienced employees who seemed unfamiliar with their jobs and in hostessing.   Bottom line...if I'm going to pay for a pricey meal, I expect courteous, friendly service from the time I walk in.  That shouldn't be an inconvenience, because the competition is getting stiff.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Med last Saturday evening.  We couldn't have been happier with our experience.   The food was excellent, our server was very professional and friendly, and the wine list was exceptional.  I had the New York steak, it was one of the best steaks I have ever had.  My wife had the salmon, and was very pleased as well.  After dinner we had cappuccino in the new lounge area.  It was very comfortable, and a great addition to the restaurant.  The Godiva chocolate mocha was a new twist on a great coffee drink.  Overall the experience was excellent.  Cafe Med is, and has been one our favorite restaurants.  I would recommend it to anyone for a romantic dinner.
