Cafe Med is in need of a makeover!!! It is overpriced and overrated. When ordering a few appetizers instead of dinner, we were disappointed to find most of the appetizers entree priced (4 pieces of ahi tuna for $17.). The Mediterranean sampler is far from generous in terms of the portion and the falafel often tastes stale. Likewise, the cheese plate was $14. for 2 very small pieces of cheese, since they now charge for the "set-up" (not like Basque, this includes the bread and a few pieces of dried fruit). Same for the mark-up on wine. The service is extremely poor, especially for the price. We waited almost 20 minutes to be served at the bar and this is usually the case when we sit at bar tables as well. If you want an exceptional dinner and great service for the same price go to the Valentien or for more value and good quality try McGee's.

I used to really enjoy Cafe Med. It was a great place to have a romantic lunch or dinner,... but, over the last year or two, the quality of food has slipped. The last time my husband and I dined there, I ordered the Chicken Pesto pasta dish, with fresh veggies on the side, and the vegetables were very bitter. The pasta was no better than we could've received at Olive Garden. The pine nuts, in the pasta dish, were cooked to the point that they were actually a touch "mushy" and had lost most of their appeal. My husband ordered the gyros and said the meat was extremely greasy. In fact, he called the attendant back to our table to comment on the meat. He didn't get another plate until we reminded the server that, whilst I was ready to start dessert, my husband had yet to receive a replacement gyro.
For dessert, I tried the Tiramisu and found it to be frozen on the bottom. Usually, I love the desserts at Cafe Med (I'm particularly fond of their Berry Tart), but the Tiramisu was so similar to the Trader Joe's boxed variant that I handed it off to my, by this point, very hungry husband. Hubby ended up taking home his gyro in a box.
We did receive our dessert gratis, to make up for the botched, and then forgotten, gyro.

I will not be returning to Cafe Med. The service was good, but the food was not. My wife and I went and ordered the Fisherman’s choice pasta, and the Eggplant Parmesan. The pasta was the better of the two dishes. The salmon in the pasta was surprisingly good, but the shrimp and scallops were both over cooked. The Eggplant Parmesan was just plain bad all around. It tasted as if someone had just opened a can of marinara sauce and dumped it onto some eggplant. I guess I just expected more from a "gourmet" restaurant. Save your money and go some place where they know how to cook Mediterranean cuisine.
