They still make things here like a Monte Cristo, and Fried Chicken, which you'd be hard pressed to find at any other restaurant locally. The milkshakes are made with real ice cream, and the bacon bits are real bacon cooked up on the spot. The portion sizes are more than reasonable, and the flavors are also very old-fashioned coffee shop.
It's not trying to be Mimi's or Marie Callender's, and that' what I love about Cindy's. It's one of a kind.
Even the staff, people who've worked there for years, seem to have become part of that traditional feel; you can miss going there but your waitress will still remember your favorite order months later.
Don't go there looking for "California Cuisine" or "Nouveau Gourmet." If you want good down-home vittles, this is the place.
