Thank God for Cuban Flavor! For us Cuban food lovers, this new restaurant is a Godsend. I have been a customer since it opened at the beginning of the year, and I am very impressed. Cuban "Flavor/Sabor Cubano" is authentic as it gets. This is real Cuban food and cooked by Cubans. They offer a complete menu just like the restaurants in Miami. I feel that this family has brought a little of Miami to Bakersfield. They offer appetizers like beef empanadas, croquettes, and even stuffed potato balls. Their sandwiches are the best in the West Coast, compared to none, especially their Cuban sandwich because they bake their own bread daily. They also have delicious ropa vieja (Cuban style shredded beef), and my now favorite garlic chicken, among many other authentic Cuban dishes.
I think I got my money's worth because in the past I used to drive to L.A. to go to enjoy Cuban food, that can get costly. If I could find a fault at Cuban Flavor, is that they serve too much food. When I mentioned this to one of the brothers who own the place, he quickly mentioned that they were working on their new menu, which will have smaller portions and lower prices, he also mentioned that they are going to open the drive thru and make deliveries.
What I find most unique about this place, besides the outstanding delicious food, is the service the offer. Talking to the brothers is like talking with a family friend, they go out of their way to help and please people as best as they can.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I drove by the corner of Chester and California and saw the sign saying "Cuban Flavor."I pulled over immediately as my mouth watered at the thought of a Cuban sandwhich, an item I hadn't been able to purchase outside of Miami or LA. Since my first exquisite visit, I've returned many times and tried the other great items such as the ropa vieja (shredded beef), pollo al ajillo( garlic chicken), and bistec encebollado (top sirloin steak cooked with onions.) Being half Cuban, I can honestly say that this food is as authentic as it gets. Not only is the authenticity of the utmost quality, but the taste of the food is just like my grandma's cooking, if not better. The customer service rivals the best restaurants I've ever been to. Each of the cashiers offers their assistance without being asked, and the owners/managers frequently take a tour of the dining area to interact with the customers. Besides the quality of the food and customer service, the atmostphere triggered many memories of my trip to Cuba a few years back. The prices are very reasonable considering the exaggerated amounts of food they put on a plate. I've visited the restaurant several times and have had no negative experiences. I can definitely say that Cuban Flavor is my new favorite restaurant in all of Bakersfield, if not Kern County.

This place was really good! While the food was a bit heavy, and a little goes a long ways, every bite was tastey. After being tired of much of the same stuff all the time when going out, Cuban Flavor offers totally unique items, and all of it tastes wonderful. It can get a bit pricey if you're looking for something that's more of a fast food price. But then again I guess you get what you pay for. The pricing probably could be compared to Baja Fresh, may a bit more expensive. Though, I think it is definitely worth it once in awhile. Probably not a place you can eat at every day, just due to the food being quite heavy.

This restaurant is one of those out of the way places that has no frills, hearty food. I like going to these places where there are no assumptions and the priority is on the food. Sabor Cubano is a converted fast food restaurant that is offering awesome Cuban selections, especially the sandwiches.
I often go to Florida in the summer and when there, load up on Cuban sandwiches which have their own unique taste combinations. It's a savory sweet combo, with an interesting array of meats and cheeses. That's the Cuban food experience and Sabor Cubano really nails it in a down to earth way.
I went in jeans and a white tshirt, ordered right at the counter a Cuban sandwich, which is ham, pork, cheese, mustard and pickles all on Cuban bread. While my sandwich was being made, I slid into a booth and relaxed. The smell of the meats in the front display permeated the building and it was an awesome olfactory experience. Mental note to try an array of their meats later on.
Sandwich was exactly the way they taste in Florida. Having the option of authentic Cuban food in Bakersfield blows my mind and I'm excited that I have that available now. Do not expect fancy tables or the classiest of individuals eating dinner there. It's casual and about the food. I drive over there and often get it to go.
