I love Dagny's. It rocks! It's a really hip coffee shop and they sometimes have incredible bands play there, like Near Miss Mallet, (http://www.myspace.com/near... a band in Bakersfield that could really go big. Also, Wednesday nights are fun. A bunch of people come down and play Irish music. If I lived downtown, I would be there every morning and almost everyy night. What's really cool is that it serves coffee AND beer! What's up with that? Come on Starbucks, get with the times. :-)

What can I say? I go here practically every morning on a typical work day to enjoy their awesome tasting coffee or little breakfast treats that they offer. They're definitely are affordable and great. Their coffee is one thing and their service is even better. Going here you get the whole package, and just a great place to go to start out the morning. I've never been there after the morning, though I'm sure it's just as great!

CurtDalton You bring up a very valid point! I too, dislike to WAIT while people {the help} are jaw jacking with customers, while all the while other customers are WAITING to order! Inconsiderate on both of their parts, they could wait and come back and talk when there is no one waiting to order... But I see this bad practice in way too many places lately....
Now on with something positive, on the good side..hehe I thought that they were very accommodating with our crazy group, taking up a lot of space and not really buying a whole lot...That made a big hit with me!... Sure were GREAT cookies! As far as Coffee goes, I water it all down [by at least half] with hot water, it's always way too strong for my taste!
Plus any price over $.50 cents, is over priced to me... But all was fine, and fun.. I will probably go back again, now that I have broken thee Ice, so to speak.

After reading the many reviews on Dagny's Coffee downtown near the Fox Theater, I knew I had to put this place on my list of places to try. So, I decided to try them out for the first time before watching the Christmas Parade last night. I only ordered a regular-sized iced mocha and a small bottle of water. I was impressed with the taste of my mocha. It wasn't perfect, but definitely could have been worse. Service wasn't bad, either. And, they're prices aren't bad (at least for what I had). I spent a total of $5.40 ($3.75 for my iced mocha + $1.65 for (Fiji brand) bottle of water). I do recommend this place, even though I won't be back very often, because I hardly ever go downtown.

I like Dagny's atmosphere, and the coffee has been good. But the weekend hours STINK! I'd like to be able to go in after work, and pick up a coffee. Or come down with my friends in the evening to have a latte after dinner.
Also, when I've gone in, none of the employees could tell me how to get on to the free wifi that is available. The fact that they have it though, is a HUGE plus... just being able to use it would be nice. ;)

I like Dagny's, especially because it's locally owned and operated. I'll take Dagny's over Starbucks any day; however, I can't help but feel there's something missing. I'm not sure what I'm craving that Dagny's lacks, but the feeling is definitely there. Maybe not cozy enough; maybe too sterile an atmosphere; maybe it's that guy with the red hat . . . nah, I like him; maybe I'm just mad that when I'm inside Dagny's, outside is still Bakersfield and not, say, San Francisco. That might be it.

I love a place where the product is matched by the service and the environment. Dangy's has all three and more. Order their ice teas (Zambian Zing or Blanc du Pom Pom fo'sho). Eat their catered lunches (the trip tip is pretty zesty). Use their free wireless.
From the art on the walls, to the customers, from the product, to the music the speakers - Dangy's is the anti-Starbuck's and better off for it.

This is your nice coffee and cookie place, without the corporate logo. If you are looking for a good cup of joe than this is your place. But if you want anything else, like an omelets (which is on the menu) they may not have that every time. And when your fat guy like me, that is very important. Be prepared next time, Omelets for fatties!

Great fan of Dagny's! I love the atmosphere of ever changing art decorating the walls with a constant buzz of blenders and coffee grinders in the background. Good service, location and vibe aside... Dagny's puts out a good coffee as well as food (awesome lunches included!!!) and something cold for the HOT Bakersfield summer. After all, it all boils down to taste, and they are in my personal favorite for a reason.

Like KAT, I have no complaint with the product. The coffee is superb as are the bagles and other munchies. My beef is with the level of service.

I often find myself choosing Starbucks over Dagny's simply because I cannot afford to wait for the counter help at Dagny's to stop gossiping with a "regular" and serve up my coffee.
I like the coffee but not enough to be late for work!
