We have eaten at Don Pericos on Hageman several times since it opened and tonight was the first night it was so bad I couldn't eat it.  I ordered Pollo Asado and I believe all they did was cook some pieces of chicken in the microwave and color it orange,  It was like eating flavorless chicken jerky wrapped in a tortilla with the side of rice and beans.  If this is what I can expect from future visits, we will be ditching this mexican restaurant and try one of the countless others in the area.  Not wanting my food to go to waste, I brought it home to my teenager since with a little hot sauce, he will eat anything.  I have had better seasoned and cooked chicken at McDonalds.  YUCK.  And the service was not up to its usual standards either.

I did like the atmosphere but not the food. I ordered the ranchero burrito and my boyfriend ordered the enchiladas suizas. With the order of most of the dishes on the menu you also get your choice of a soup or salad. I chose the tortilla soup, it was too salty, but my boyfriends salad was really good. The entrees were bland and we took like three bites and got some to go boxes and took the food home. (it's still in the fridge!). We wont be going back.

My wife and I have been going to eat at Don Gabino's place for 7 years now, and have never been disappointed!! The bacon wrapped shrimp is my wife's favorite and I love all the more "authentic" meals not on the typical gringo's combo menu. The bar is a nice relaxing place to get that one on one time in with your loved one, as long as it's not happy hour. That can get loud and irritating, but we've learned when to stay away and when to  enjoy it. Thank you Don Gabino and thanks to all your friendly, knowledgable staff for all the great times we've had!!
