This restaurant is good, but used to be EXCELLENT. Shrimp tacos used to be amazing! They were flat and lacking cabbage at my last dine-in experience. The beans and rice were not of the best quality, especially for being a busy Friday night. On the bright side, the service was speedy and frequent. The iced tea is still great, and the chips and salsa are to-die-for. Also, we fed 6 people meals for approximately $60.00 (including 4+ alcoholic beverages and 4 fountain drinks). Overall, the shrimp tacos (my favorite item on the menu) were disappointing, but still a restaurant worth dining at.

This is one of the few Mexican restaurants in town that I will eat at. The food is terrific. Took the family to dinner a few nights ago and I and my daughter strayed from our regular items. I ordered the Chile Colorado combo (rice/beans), daughter ordered a bowl of Pozole (red chile stew of Pork and Hominy) and my wife had her usual Enchilada (Ground Beef) combo.
I will start with my dish it was very flavorful and quite spicy. The sauce was a little thin for my liking so I will probably not order it again. The refried beans were good and the Spanish Rice was EXCELLENT. The rice had been toasted long enough to get a good nutty flavor. Daughters Pozole was a huge steaming bowl of goodness. Large chunks of stewed pork in a thin chile (mild) broth with hominy. The pork had some (not much) fat which it typical given the cut used for this dish. A plate of minced onion, cilantro and lemon was provided to garnish the stew. I have saved the best for last. My wifes Enchiladas were spectacular. I am very picky about Enchiladas and will only eat them from ECV. The mild sauce is sooo close to tasting like my Mom's homemade sauce that it brings a tear to my eye. The ground beef (you get cheese only if you don't ask for it) filing is also spiced nicely with garlic and cumin. You can't go wrong ordering the enchiladas. On a side note the Chips and Salsa are very good. The chips are always warm and the salsa (wife loves it and she does not like salsa) although not as chunky as I like is tasty. I always ask for diced fresh Jalapeños to add to it.
In the past I have had the Chile Verde burrito (good) and the Carne Asada Burrito (very good). I have recommended ECV to friends from out of town who now make it a regular stop for a meal when passing through town on their way to LA.

I don't know where the reviewer below me ate, he must of went to White Lane and Hughes by mistake. The food here is the best Mexican food in Bako, by far!! We eat here all the time now, since everybody left the other place and came over here, including the KILLER FOOD! Samantha and Angie always treat us like family. Oh and did I mention the FOOD, the best in Bako. The price is good as well. Bye Sam, she's moving to Stockton, we will miss you. I used to eat at the one on White Lane and Hughes all of the time, until the owners, cooks and wait staff all moved over here, it is worth the drive to me. Because it is the best Mexican food in Bako, and the food is great too!!!!!!!!!
