This place is a joke! Save your money and buy a frozen pizza! Went for their lunch buffet. It was deplorable! Only a couple of slices of pizza were sitting out and they were dried out. They said another was coming in about 15 minutes,. It was so so greasy and the crust was too hard to cut with their wonderful plastic utencils. The other food on display was dried out and could have used a good stirring just to freshen them up a bit. At any rate it didn't look appealing, The next pizza was as greasy as the first one and when you ate it, the topping came off of the crust.
The staff appeared indifferent and could have cared less.So I suggest you go elsewhere, the Shakeys on White Lane was much better but it is closed now and due to re-open as a RoundTable and their buffets elsewhere have been very good.
Cataldos is trying to sell Pizza Franchises but I suggest they get their own house in order first.
Cataldo's Pizzeria's Response:
Sorry to hear about your visit. With New York style pizza you do run into the toppings falling off do to the middle crust being extremely thin ( new york style) as for them being greasy i'll look into that, our pizza usually are not greasy. We are always putting fresh pizza out and as one is eaten we put out more. If you dont like what toppings are out we always try to get pizzas out that people like. So next time please just ask. As for the staff she may have been having a bad day but we all care. We do our best to make and serve the highest quality of food and service to all our customers. Please give us another try, i'm sure you'll like. Just remember at Round Table Shakeys etc they only give you pizza here you get pizza pasta salad ribs tri tip etc . Thanks Ty

I've been looking forward to going to this place for almost a year. I was told it was "real" NY style, What a disapointment. It came out looking like every other crappy cracker crust that comes out of a big frozen box. As I was leaving I looked behind the counter for a mixer or any signs that they make the crust, I saw nothing, BUT they had a giant on the counter ready to go it, it looked like a real 'Za.. I asked what you had to order to get a "real" pizza, I was told that all their pizza was hand tossed... the one I had had criss cross marks on the bottom and stamp marked look to the edges... and some butter crap slopped on the crust.... No no no not going back.
Cataldo's Pizzeria's Response:
hey Joe,
First of all i hate to hear you had a bad experience here. But our pizza is hand tossed we do it in front of all customers right next to the oven in plain sight. Our dough isnt a cracker crust like me-n-eds or pizzaville. the crisscross marks are from the screen we put it on as we put them in the oven so they dont burn. Most people that come here want the garlic butter spread on the crust, but, some dont so we ask all our customers if they want it you don't have to get it. As for our mixer its too big to fit in the kitchen by the oven so we have in the back , but ill quarentee you we have a big one back there. Also my wife and i bought the place back in Feburary. You visisted in March as we were trying to fix a LOT of ISSUES , we've made a lot of changes for the better ( quality of service and food) So come back -try it out again (* NO BUTTER this time and tell us you think . I personnally think you'll like it . Thanks Ty ( the owner) oh by the way our new name is Ellis Island Pizza Company

This was our first trip to ths pizza parlor. We'd heard the pizza was great. We took the front counter's suggestion of a 16" pizza for myself, wife and two kids. Additionally we ordered a large salad and two soft drinks. Total was over $30. After a 30 minute wait for our salad, we went to ask the counter person who said they delivered our salad to us 20 minutes prior. They finally confessed that they gave our salad to the table behind us. (Sad to see people take something they didn't pay for.) They'd offered to make another salad, but our pizza was on the counter ready to be delivered to our table. I insisted on a refund of the salad and the manager abliged. Pizza was VERY greasy and wet. Cheese was clumpy. From ordering to exiting the door, 1 hour and 15 minutes on a Sunday night. (Forgot to say that it took 15 minutes just to order) I'd hate to see them on a Friday or Saturday. by and large, we'll never go back until they get some sense or organization. They take your name down for your order. Once your order is ready, an employee walks around the place yelling out yuor name, loking like a lost puppy. Again, just a bad place with terrible service and very subpar pizza.
